I'm curious why he is focused on moving up to MW in his next fight and ditching his ww title shot entirely.

It is also strange why he is waiting until October to fight next. His last opponent Kevin holland will have had at least 2 fights since retiring after their last fight.

Even if colby is getting the next shot, doesn't it make sense for khamzat to offer to fight Usman or Belal next? It lets him redeem himself for his weight cutting failures and is also a good fight to set him for a title shot. Even if usman/belal are ducking him and refusing to sign as he claims, he could always get a fight with a Neil mangy or geoff neil to redeem himself.

But it seems like he just wants to move up to MW now. I wonder what is going on. Other fighters have missed weight before and have not had to be banished to a higher division. Nor have these fighters taken a year of in between fights during their prime.

As a fan it sucks. It feels like we have been robbed of seeing khamzat fight in Q1 and Q2/Q3 of 2023.

Dana hates WW's that miss weight KG has been forced to fight MW's biggest for this same reason.

Fortunately for the rest of the division

Khamzat doesn't seem built for this.

Remember Cain/JDS rise to the top? They were just crushing dudes consistently no matter what. Thought Khamzat rise would be like that or he would lose trying, but this?

Bro ain't built for this. The spotlight was too much.

He got to the point where he would have to start fighting absolute killers in every fight... then suddenly dropped into inactivity.

Sure he won his last fight on points but he also got beaten up worse than he probably has in his whole life.

Shame, I would have liked to see how he would do against a Kamaru, Colby or Leon.

Oh well.

Maybe. I think he COULD make it. Seems like he's one fight away in either division so I'd guess he'll go to MW since he doesn't cut as much as stylistically might be easier.

I mean, he pulled DC's towel trick at one of his weigh ins, then missed weight by an almost record amount. In the process almost tanking a card entirely built around him and trying to make him a mainstream star.

Probably didn't help that he was consistently unapologetic and unrepentant about the whole thing. Screaming "make weight don't make weight who gives a fuck?" Into the crowd and then doubling down that he doesn't care about making weight in the post fight presser.

You miss weight by that much I think it's fair to go up permanently. I think he does very well at MW anyway, he's still very inexperienced so hopefully they don't throw him to the wolves too early, I don't think he's ready for a Whittaker for example.

Well, going up one weight class took a recent headliner 3 years.

He won his last fight by sub in the first round.

To the point of the thread, I'd love to see Khamzat against guys like Colby and Usman. But I'm not sure he's actually a WW. Khamzat has been scheduled for 4 WW fights in the UFC. One of those he missed by 7.5 pounds. One of those was a "towel-gate" situation at UFC 267 in UAE. And another was in UAE, which we've seen is sketchy at best. In my mind, he's only actually made WW 1 time (against Burns).

So can he make 170? Yes. But can he be trusted to reliably make 170? No.

Oh yeah, the Holland cluster fuck... how did I forget that? Not sure why I was thinking that his last fight was against Burns.

He steps up to 185 and he won't have a huge size advantage anymore. Will be super interesting when he runs into some of the beasts at MW.

He's not allowed to try because if he misses weight by that much the commission won't even allow the fights to happen. I don't understand how a guy can miss weight by that much unless he and his team have no idea what they're doing. If you follow your team's advice and blow weight by that much you need a new team immediately, unless he was just fucking around.

He’s just trying to make the most of his career b4 he’s chinned and his salary is cut down to size
