Is it time for Lyoto to start cutting weight ?

Sorry TS, it just seems that Machida may be the 2nd or 3rd best fighter in multiple weight classes. The field is just that deep now a days...

Gimme a break, Machida looked just as massive and conditioned as a goddamn former Oklahoma state wrestler and binge eater Mark Munoz at MW.

Weidman probably cuts more weight than any champ in the UFC. It's expected Machida would be a bit small in comparison.

If not a source then at least provide some sort of explanation for this. I would imagine both Jones and Hendricks (and probably Aldo if we're talking purely body weight percentage) cut more than Weidman.

And evidently Barao, when he was champ. Weidman is a big effing MW though.

I know this is a troll thread but just so others know machidas cut to 185 isnt an easy one

Jones doesn't cut that much does he? Hendricks and barao do

Yeah, Barao looking like a corpse at all of his weigh-ins is a pretty good indicator that he cuts WAY too much weight.

I don't know about Weidman. He's a big dude for sure but he didn't dwarf either Machida or Silva (or any of his opponents that I can remember, maybe Maia). I still think Hendricks cuts more, at least on a percentage basis. Jones cutting less weight than Weidman despite regularly looking a good weight class or two heavier than his opponents (some of them legit big 205ers too such as Rampage, Bonnar, and Glover), now that's a notion I'm having difficulty swallowing.

Does he not? Granted this isn't my forte but I'm obviously missing something if that is true. Maybe Jones' frame has something to do with it, I don't know.

Either way, I don't think Weidman cuts more than every other UFC champ.

I don't think you guys are understanding the OP. I'm saying Machida needs to bulk back up to around 200lbs and cut weight to 185lbs the day before the fight. This is what Weidman and most other middleweights do.
Thos is exactly what OP is saying. Most of the posters in this thread are too fucking stupid to realize it.

Machida needs to stop dieting so much to get to 185 and he should dehydrate himself to make weight just like Weidman does.

Why not just make a special weight class for Machida? He'll be champ, his fans will be happy, and all these Machida threads will stop.

Ok even in that scenario these threads would not stop

That's not true, were do you took that information from? When did you see Machida weigh in at 200 pounds? He was cutting weight when he was at 205 and he's probably 200-195 pounds now. And bulk up? He looks huge in 205, or at least the same size his opponent are but ripped. White belt
Really? Because he weighed in at 198 for a fight at 205 in the UFC.. He has weighed in at 201lbs for his fight with Bader and weighed in below 200lbs MULTIPLE times in the UFC for fights at 205.

I'm sorry, don't mean to be cliche or whatever, but I just knew this was a white belt thread before I even entered lol.

I don't think the OP understands the concept of weight cutting, or what it does to you physically, especially that much before the fight. Machida's problem has never been his stamina, size, or strength. Machida's problem, is that he waits until the later stages of a fight, before he actually starts "fighting". If he fought like he does in rounds 3 - 5 in the earlier stages of the fight, he wouldn't be on the wrong side of decisions, or find himself having to dig deep and come back. Machida's style in the early stages is very poke and counter based. It lacks a sense of urgency. Then the "switch" gets flipped in the later stages of the fight, and he's all offense. He pushes forward, backs opponents up, corner traps, etc... That is how he needs to fight from the get go instead of waiting.

I KNOW ! I'm saying he needs to bulk up to 200lbs and cut to 185lbs like all other middleweight.

I see what your saying but machidas style is speed and counter striking and alot of movement, i dont think having the extra weight would make a great deal of difference, think he looks quicker now.
His problems been that he hasnt been engaging enough in fights, when he did he looked good and dangerous

He's not saying shit about his weight, why you idiot need to speak for him? Restrain yourself and don't share your mediocrity with us.

Thank you ! I can't believe after 8 pages the majority don't understand what I'm saying !

Why is it "white belt" to think Machida should do as the other middleweights he fights do ?
