The UFC seems hell bent on making Gane a star in France. Giving him Volkov again after he easily beat him in a boring fight years ago. You guys like crying about how champs like Alex never fight any top grapplers but Gane gets the same treatment and he isn't even champ. How is he not fighting Aspinall?

Wtf are you talking about? Nobody sensible thinks Poatan is getting protected. His division is full of striking dominant fighters at the top, its not his fault or the UFC's.

Onto the Gane question, I don't think so. The guy just doesn't fight much. I don't think he is protected persay. A title shot over beating Tuivasa seems silly though. I still think he is an elite fighter in the division, HW is a wasteland right now.

I don't think he's protected. He just doesn't take dangerous fights unless he thinks it's worth his while. He's turned down fights with Pavlovich, Blaydes and on 3 separate occasions said no to Aspinall.

His reasoning was always no need to take dangerous fights unless there's a title in it for him. Or that the UFC shouldn't waste 2 upcoming HWs on each other who are the future of the division.

The UFC aren't protecting him, he just refuses to fight most of the top dogs.

He's already fought Jones, and N'gannou. So I don't think I would consider him protected. The tom fight needs to happen at some point though. Just think they're trying to hold it off until Jones leaves so they can set it up as the next Era of the HW elites and not be overshadowed by Jon sticking around stinking up the joint with his inactivity and twitter fingers.

We know exactly how the Tom fight would go specifically because of his fights with Jon and Ngannou. Jones subbing him within 2 mins of the first, a one kneed Ngannou who was never known for wrestling taking him down and establishing dominance. Tom would have his way with him.

He got to the top fast and his weaknesses were blatantly exposed.

Didn't say he was going to beat Tom, i do think tom takes him. Just that the fight needs to happen at some point, and would be easy to sell over in western europe. And him getting exposed like that by those guys is proof he's not protected as he was put in there with 2 of the most dominating figures we've seen in the ufc over the last decade. So the idea that his short comings are being protected isn't there. He's just booked against volkov because they're trying to kick the aspinal fight down the road a bit until Jones leaves and stops overshadowing the division by keeping the title tied up through inactivity.

Gane was offered guys like Blaydes and Aspinall in the past but he chose to openly duck these matchups

Pereira on the other hand has only been offered Ankalaev during Ramadan, so the UFC knew he was either going to decline the fight like most other Muslim fighters do, or accept it and be depleted

Based on testimony from Blaydes and Aspinall he has ducked fights with them. The UFC did give him a grappler in his last fight, albeit a shittier one than Aspinall, Blaydes or Almeida. I'm gonna say no in terms of the UFC, but Gane's camp has been avoiding fights with the best wrestlers in the division. Am I the only one who wants to see him against Almeida to see which style wins out? That's a classic striker v wrestler match that seems obvious to make after both fighters have shown clear weaknesses against what the other does.

They had already fought. Volkov had a couple of favorable match ups recently but the result is going to be the same.
Maybe. First right was a lot closer than people seem to remember and the scorecards would suggest.

Gane only outstruck Volkov by 15 in significant strikes over the whole 5 rounds. Volkov was very competitive the whole way through.

Can you prove your point with sources ? @Striker Fox said the same, so it's probably true, but i never saw anything convincing that would prove that gane turned down officialy 5 fights.

Because he doesn't deserve to fight Aspinall. Gane is certainly not a tested MMA fighter. The UFC seems to be intent on signing kickboxers but only match them with kickboxers. Not sure why they don't just start the USKFC. Ultimate Slap Kick Fighting is going to be bigger then Soccer Cricket and Pickleball combined.

Gane is the most protected HW on the roster without a doubt. He’s the orgs only viable French meal ticket atm.

They also enable his blatant ducking. Crazy how he’s 0-2 in his last two title shots and somehow they they still talk about him as if he’s in the title picture. Bro should’ve been fed to Blaydes or Almeida long ago
