Is Frankie Edgar top 10 all time?

Frankie should be in the p4p lists with Hendo and BJ. Fighters that weren't the top but won fights undersized. Would be difficult for me to rank him.

I don't know. I looked at all of these guys and their accomplishments, win streaks, opponents records, and losses and do not feel Edgar beats out any of these guys. Yes, Edgar was great, but he lost key fights in his prime, including a stretch of losing 4 of 5 in his prime. He had 3 title defenses, he beat Penn again fought Maynard (draw) and Maynard again (win) before losing to Benson.

Okay, well, He has far more relevant wins than Khabib, and he won and defended that same belt that khabib had while being 25lbs lighter, he also won his belt off of a P4P great in Penn, where as Khabib won his off of Ai quinta. Obviously Khabib didn't lose, but again, he didn't face nearly as many top guys as Edgar did, nor did he beat as many top guys as Frankie did. Frankie has double the amount of ranked wins as khabib.

Max won and defended a belt 3 times, same as frankie, but frankie's belt was from the weight class higher, a belt that Max failed to get despite being significantly bigger than frankie. Max did beat frankie, but it was obviously not prime frankie. Frankie also has more noteworthy wins overall than max, (but this one is very close).

Cruz has more belts than Frankie, but these guys are the same size and frankie won his belts two divisions higher and both guys have a similar amount of ranked wins, but again, Edgar did it in higher divisions while being the same size as cruz, whereas many of cruz's best wins are against guys that turned out to be 125lbers.

Oliveira has 1 defence (2 if you count the gaethje fight), so similar to frankie, but yet again, frankie has more overall ranked wins, including a win over Charles, albeit it pre-prime charles.

Lol I know exactly what his problem is, and I wouldn’t even waste my time with that guy. He has bipolar meltdowns in every thread he posts in, and absolutely lost his shit in the past because I ranked Cruz ahead of Edgar all time. After like 3 pages of his shrieking and whining, I asked (politely, actually) for his top 10 so I could look at it.
Just add Rich Franklin to the list. He will really liven up .

Not top ten all time, no.

Very accomplished at a higher weight than he should have been. I actually have guys like Oliveira, and Khabib ahead of him all time. But, he’s not far out of the top ten right off the top of my head.

Really? Where would you put Edgar on this list? I think he falls outside the top 20 p4p.
  1. Fedor
  2. GSP
  3. Jones
  4. Silva
  5. Aldo
  6. Mighty Mouse
  7. Cruz
  8. Khabib

How in the fuck can you have BJ over Edgar. Explain

Oliveira has 2 belts (3 if you count the gaethje fight), so similar to frankie, but yet again, frankie has more overall ranked wins, including a win over Charles, albeit it pre-prime charles.
He also whooped Charles ass with a massive size deficit if that counts for anything

Tied with 3 title defenses with the best LW's ever while being undersized, or i think he was considering he moved down not 1 but 2 weight classes eventually.

Haha were you in that thread?? That was his most recent meltdown. Putting Franklin in top 10 MWs all time doesn’t seem that crazy to me, but boy did it set him off lol.

Decent, fair list, these guys are all significantly ahead of Edgar. I think Usman, Vitor, Chuck, Stipe, Nunes, Shevchenko, Max Holloway, BJ Penn, Henry Cejudo, Randy, Matt Hughes, Conor are all higher on the all-time list. JDS, Reem, Bisping are debatable. Edgar is outside the top 20....maybe 25 or 26th.
conor hahaha

He was a UFC champion in both lightweight and welterweight divisions. He beat prime Matt Hughes. He had three finishes in his three title defenses.

cormier before volk is laughable

Lets see, he won the belt at 155 being severely undersized, beat prim BJ twice in title fights, should've regained the belt at 155 but got robbed against Bendo, moved down to 145 and lost a razor thin decision to Also for the belt then went on a spectacular run where he got ducked by Conor for the belt. So he should've been two division champ if politics weren't involved. So what do you guys think, is Frankie top 10 all time?

Some of that 'logic' is included just to stir things up...a pattern noted in your other posts ;)

Claiming that Frankie "should've been a two division champ" because Conor allegedly ducked him is beyond silly...and aside from the fact that it would not have been a sure win for Frankie, it is also ridiculous to use that assumed outcome as support for his all-time ranking.

If you are going to cite controversial outcomes that support a position, then you should also acknowledge the controversial outcomes that might also challenge it. Frankie's first win over Penn was quite controversial. It would also be more accurate to characterize that loss to Aldo as a close, competitive one rather than 'razor thin', IMHO.

Impressive but those are literally Penn's only wins at WW if I recall. It's not so much he was a good WW, but that he had Hughes number and didn't have to earn a WW title shot in the division.

Edgar has better wins than Penn, no question about it in terms of quality.

Interesting that you prioritize a division which moves at the speed of light but has a very low finish rate over HW, particularly when we’re talking about a small HW like Fedor who fought in a division with 10 min first rounds, stomps, soccer kicks, etc.—and Fedor still managed to be undefeated for a decade, and set a record for title defenses in a single reign which has never been surpassed in that weight class. Fedor’s got more title defenses and title wins than Frankie. And that’s without even discussing the significance of WAMMA titles, PRIDE GP titles, RINGS tournament titles…
Hell, Frankie has been KOed more in lighter weight classes than Fedor at HW, to this day.
But it’s your ranking bud, you do you.

Like you said in another post, these rankings are somewhat subjective. I like debating them, but as long as someone has criteria that makes sense and a list that makes sense with that criteria, it’s all good.
I have very, very, very little respect for any poster who shits on someone’s ranking but won’t put forth their own. There are posters I debate with all the time that I respect way more than that dude, because they at least have the guts to list their own ranking and stand by it.

What were Fedor's title defenses?

Don’t have much time to make a list of my own, but from yours I would replace Max and Hughes with Frankie and Megumi Fujii.
Nice list tho…
Also I would put Royce and Rutten somewhere there, now that I see there are so many relevant fighters in a span of 30 years lol
