Is "face crank" the new RNC?

Wiki has Du Plessis defeating Adesanya via face crank but it looked like his arm was under the neck. DDP has another face crank win on his record and pretty sure Khabibs win over Conor is a face crank as well. Grosso also beat Shevchenko with a face crank. What causes the tap if a strangle isn't happening? The threat of jaw dislocation?

If thats a face crank..

Then Hickson by kneebar should be the new saying...

that was gable grip rear naked

Y'all need to go grapple.

It's neck.

If the torso is angle X and the head is angle Y, face crank hurts neck rill bad and makes victim very afraid of long-term neck injury.

So, your point is that it was identified incorrectly or him tapping to a face crank?

Master Choi used to have my yute Big Mac apply di crank on me fi initial defense trainin' fi slaps affi a few years u get used to it affi bone density ting go up u can work on offense gotta earn it tho according to Master Choi ⚙️⚒️🇰🇵

#Izzy should prolly switch camps fi a bit be good fi him gain perspective n all dat lmk tho fam u n Big Mac can link up 💯🧠

DDP had his feet crossed during this finish, I am still waiting for someone to get tapped making this mistake. Caio Borralho used to do this all the time, but I have not seen him do it lately.

Nobody is going to tap at UFC level to this lol.

One thing I got from a Danaher instructional which works pretty well for me is to try and line up the crook of your elbow with the chin before applying the pressure.

When you have elbow on their chin, it also works as a grip on the jaw you can use to rotate the head. Bring the chin to the shoulder and fold their head into the choke.

Anyone else remember when Edgar broke Swanson's jaw with a face crank?

They'd be tapping if someone actually put it on. That move hurts like fuck and can easily do damage.

But no one goes for it and it's kinda easy to counter. That said, there's plenty of guys in the UFC who are pretty sloppy with their actual BJJ and wouldn't know what to do if someone slapped this on.

Was the first sub I ever got tapped with. This prick blue belt who I found out was known for being a cunt to the white belts slapped it onto me in my first class during light rolling and fucking wrenched it. Was good times once I got good enough to smash that asshole lol.

It'll mess your jaw up if you don't tap. It isn't just a "pain" submission despite popular belief. Similar with a neck crank, some people think it's just pain you can def get injured if you don't tap after a while.
I know a guy who lost 4 teeth due to a face crank.

I think everyone in the UFC would know that all you have to do is push on the back of the head and it doesn't work. Maybe not Robelis but his legs are long enough that it probably wouldn't work on him anyway.

Push on the back of the head? Wait, what sub are we talking about here? I thought we was talking about when someone has your back and they cross their legs in front of you, and you can cross yours over theirs and attack the ankle/feet.

Yeah. If anyone does that to you just push on the back of their head and they can't finish it.

I've never heard of that lol. I don't train anymore so don't have anyone to try it on.

So, what, like you reach up behind your head, and then behind their head, and pull them in? How does that even stop what they're doing with their legs?
