Is Dricus du Plessis the best unorthodox fighter in UFC?

Dricus is the type of guy to wear a tight speedo, and still knock your ass out

Chimaev has no travel issues outside of maybe the US. He can fight Australia, South Africa, UAE, UK etc etc. If they wanna bring that fight to South Africa it can happen
Source on the concept that he can fight in Australia/SA/UK?

If he is banned from entering the US based on political attacks chances are countries like the UK and Australia would certainly follow suit and do the same.

His striking is very random, I know what you mean, he doesn't have any set ups and lunges wild at times like Jardine and Brunson used to do, however he has a much better chin than both of those do, and DDP best attribute is his strength, he is probably crazy strong because a lot of the time he just bulldozes into guys and pulls them down, rather than single legs, double legs, trips etc etc. He is obviously very strong.

The reason why his striking looks weird is because he doesn't set anything up, he just lunges into everything, but what happens is when he lunges he often tries to grab the guy as well and pull them down, and like I said because he is so strong it works

He definitely sets things up sherbro.

Some examples of what I mean:

His blitzes that everyone critiques are very often timed off of his opponents kicks, when they are on one leg and can't retreat as fast or plant and counter.

Also, as ugly as his looping punches are when blitzing, they help him catch guys who try to pivot out on an angle to escape the blitz.

Most importantly, when people try to stand their ground and counter dricus off his blitz, that helps dricus crash into them for a level change.

He is constantly switching stances in front of his opponents which helps set up his kicks. The movement of him continuously switching stances is very similar to what he kicks off of. Eventually the opponent doesnt know if it is just a stance switch, or a kick coming off of it. Once he gets them respecting the stance switch and kicks, he starts feinting them to set up his punches.

He used the constant switching to set up the southpaw jab against whittaker too.

Dricus is a very smart fighter with good set ups, it is just the execution that looks hilarious.

I think Khamzat is in between very and extremely good.

That being said, I highly doubt he defeats Rob.

And, even if he does... he has nothing for DDP.

His 5 minutes of insane wrestling output would not outmuscle or overwhelm DDP.

I'm pretty sure DDP wants that fight as a big PPV and "easy" win. As easy as fighting a top tier UFC monster can be, at least.

Absolutely on point, great breakdown.

DDP has the best worst technique in the world, period.

Tony used to be the one.

If Tony's mind wasn't teetering on schizophrenia 24/7, he probably couldn't been an even better fighter imo. Mainly he just did useless unorthodox training, he never got a solid grasp on the basics. He could t even train with anyone for an extended period of time. His mind set him back bad imo.

his sloppy striking is kinda funny to watch, but its been working out for him

Du Plessi has cleaned out the division except for Khamzat Chimaev if he beats Chimaev he has cleaned it out. I think that fight will be interesting it is going to be 50-50 which makes it extremely interesting. If Chinaev gets passed Whittaker that would be interesting fight and none rematch for him

Chimaev is so unreliable with not being able to make weight, can't fight anywhere but UAE or maybe Saudi because of his terrorist connections, possible HIV or whatever makes him sick over and over, and unproven gas tank, he is not even remotely the final test in the MW division. With the miracle of chimaev actually making it to the octagon, he is hardly the final bar to determine whether a belt holder who has defended his belt has cleaned out the division.

Jiri vs Dricus would be awesome, if Jiri can safely make the weightcut though.
Wasn't Jiri talking about moving down to 185?
It is the #1 fight I want to see right now. If they still named cards they could name it Guaranteed Chaos.
