Is Cormier that much better than Mir?

Barnett is a better version of Mir. We saw how that went down.

Mir def wouldnt beat Barnett he does have that 1 percent chance though like any MMA fight cuz anything can happen.

Bigfoot would also run right through Mir, if he just taps Mir's chin its lights out.

Mir would have absolutely nothing for Barnett or Bigfoot but a hope for a sub, and that could go either way because Barnett is a sub specialist and Bigfoot is strong as hell with good sub defense.
 
There is no area where I fear for Cormier in this fight. He all but nullified Barnett on the ground, who IMO has the much better ground game. The reason I say this is Barnett is threatening all the time with subs AND sweeps...Mir will fair worse on his back because he isn't as agile on his back as Barnett from what I have seen.

Even if he weren't, for argument's sake, I just don't feel Mir can take a punch. I'm not saying he has a glass jaw or anything he just tends to fold up pretty quickly when someone connects.

I believe he even said in a post fight, maybe Nog II??, that he's accustomed to just quitting when he gets hit a lot. Or words to that affect. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

His jab is pretty slow and he uses the same jab, straight right/cross, shallow uppercut, combo over and over sometimes followed by a weak ass kick.

I just feel like DC is going to throw a big OVH right on top or through that jab and it'll be all downhill from there for Frank.

Unless he can catch something in the ensuing scramble. Which is entirely possible.

I'll be pulling for Mir, for sure. I just don't think this is a good match up for him.

I'm not saying that makes no sense, but it makes less than some sense.
 
I think Cormier flurries a couple times and Mir goes down and turtles. Different levels of speed and power here IMO.

It does make sense.

Brock Lesnar doesn't have a glass jaw... but NOBODY can say that he took punishment well because he didn't. He panicked and folded when he was hit hard. Mir is similar... reacts very badly to getting hit.

My apologies I should have been clearer on the point I was trying to make.

In my mind a glass jaw = being KO'd quite easily.

Where as I think Frank tends to just quit and not necessarily "get his lights turned off" when he takes a hard shot or two.

Not that I'm in any way disparaging Frank as a fighter. I think he's great and has done a lot for the sport. It's simply an athlete's attribute we're discussing here. Some guys take punches better than others for various reasons.

Brock Lesnar does the bucking bronco and runs away when he gets hit. Mir just has a relatively weak chin. Mir sure as hell isn't scared to get hit. He just can't take many. Brock is scared to death to get hit. He quit MMA because he hated it so much. They are nothing alike.

Mir certainly has never run from strikes, but his losses to Freeman and Pe De Pano (ancient though they may be) were no the result of a bad chin, they were the result of him getting hit in the face and not reacting well.

Same with Carwin and Brock. He felt their power and went into a shell.

It's not like Mir get's KO'd left and right. Nobody is saying he's scared to get hit like Brock but he doesn't take punishment well, and it's not just because of a weak chin.

I think Mir would beat everyone Cormier has ever fought and will be his biggest test to date. He may not have the edge but this is a closer fight than most are making it seem. Mir's BJJ is a game changer just like having knockout power. An he has good power on the feet although he is prone to getting tagged. If they both fight perfect fights Cormier should win with his skill set. But if Cormier makes a mistake standing or on the ground he could find himself taking a nap or losing an arm very quickly
 
SO basically. Franks Chin needs to hold up in order to win this fight. I agree with everyone who said he crumbles easily when he gets hit with a power shot. We will see. I hope Mir brings a limb home!!!!!

Im not a big fan of either fighter but I love BJJ!
 
Why is everyone so high on DC? Beating Bigfoot and Barnett is solid, but it's not really indicative of anything.
 
mir is like barnett with weaker takedowns and better submissions

he cant strike with DC and he cant take him down. bad match up
