Is Conor a defending champion?

No, Conor did not ever defend. Ever.

You're the only person viewing it as a defense because you're still sucking on Conors nuts, Cory Pilfold.
LOL I never said what my personal opinion was. I don't care about Conor at all. I am not a fan of any fighter. I just analyze their game and fighting styles/techniques/strategies. I'm not like others here who are fanboys lol. Do I want certain fighters to fight each other? Yes, of course. I'm interested in how certain fighters and fighting styles match up. I'm a fight fan, not a fighter fan.

I just said technically it's a defense by UFC standards. People will have their opinions on it which is fine. I really don't care if Conor defends a belt or doesn't.

Is this thread the reason that Tony Ferguson insists that he used to be "The Champ"?

Is this thread the reason that Dustin Poirier insists that he used to be "The Champ"?

Tony Ferguson captured the INTERIM UFC Lightweight Championship. Ferguson also captured The Ultimate Fighter 13 Welterweight Grand Prix Tournament. I watched at least one YouTube video where Ferguson asked everyone, "All of you know that I used to be The Champ, right?"

Dustin Poirier captured the INTERIM UFC Lightweight Championship. I watched at least one YouTube video where Poirier yells, "I'm still The Champ!"

You can only defend an interim against a challenger, like when Tony was interim champion and Khabib was avoiding.

The interim isn't up for grabs when the undisputed champion is fighting, the interim champion isn't defending anything he is a challenger in this situation.

Interim title is a fancy title for number one contender.

You know what, if you're the interim champ and you beat the champ, it should count as a title defense because:

1. You're facing the best guy in the division at the time.
2. It's not your fault that you fought for an interim belt rather than the real one. The champ was unavailable to fight, but you still stepped up and fought.
3. If you lose, you're no longer the interim champ. You're not a champ at all. So you are risking your own title in this fight.

A lot of folks aren't gonna like this though because this would apply to Conor.
Ppl don't like it because it just adds to the confusion. People tend to not remember interim titles because they are worthless. So trying to remember who had what and when is even more annoying than making the stupid interim title in the first place.

It's not worth remembering so don't make us do it.

Fuck no bahahahahahaha Thats just fucking sad + Im old I only use Facebook lol.

If I met him in RL I would ask if I could buy him a drink then casually lean over and ask if I could sniff his crotch.
Lol I'm just bugging ya bud, you're pretty much the only cool Conor nuthugger that's around.

Haha I know man. But seriously though I personally always consider a unification of belts a defence but only if the interm champ had to fight to get to be interm.

Remind me of an awarded interim belt.

Ronda and Aldo joined from a different org as champs and they were given, awarded, converted to UFC champs, but every interim had to fight for it.

The only champions that weren't available to fight when an interim belt was created were Frank Mir (injury), Randy Couture (left the UFC to fight in Afflicition), Dominick Cruz (injury), and Conor McGregor (left the division).

With every other UFC interim champion the actual champion was available to fight and the interim belt was purely to market the fight against the actual champion.

Aldo was available to fight when Conor became interim champ... it was just a marketing tool.

Maybe it should count but the UFC did such a shitty job at creating the interim belts that no one takes them serious, so no one sees a interim champion as a champion. Just a glorified number 1 contender who has dibs on the title shot.
