Is Colby really playing a gimmick?

Like anyone he was likely tolerable at normal levels for most. He decided to amplify things about that either turned people off or drew people to him. ALOT of fighters would be this controversy if they had a “gimmick” forcing their beliefs and takes on people.

He seems like a pleasant person when he's not on his schtick.
I'm sure he'd have more fans by behaving normally. Although, I do believe his MAGA act got him his title shots and that was his goal.
The stuff with the bikini "models" always comes off as a guy who isn't honestly interested in women. They're never very attractive and I don't think he realizes this.

Edit - but yeah, as already said, prolly a gimmick that eventually rubbed into him and he kinda became some of that.

This. Of course he is playing asshole character traits, but there's no reason to think that just because he can put on niceties, doesn't mean he wasn't already filled with the asshole character traits and personality and he is simply playing them  up

I think it's an exxagerated version of himself, but he genuinely seems like a giant douche based on what others who have trained with him have said.

Probably somewhat of a gimmick. It should be a learning opportunity for other fighters. You can be completely average, but get elevated to main event status if you have a gimmick and can cut a promo.

His original boring plain somewhat shy nerdy personality is who he was.

He is trying to play a character of what he thinks a "tough alpha male" is but he ain't that guy so it comes of fake as fuck.

His whole "nerds and virgins' schtick is probably an impression of some douchebag from his high school who he was either jealous of or bullied by. Or maybe an amalgamation of a few douchebags.
