The list of earthlings more powerful than the earths “strongest” hero- Invincible. No particular order

(And this doesn’t even include gimmicks that could work if the villains were smarter like DarkWing 2 just leaving Mark in the Shadow Realm if he could stop talking, or Levy just leaving him to rot in a different universe, or shrinking Rae giving him an aneurism from the inside.)

Dragon- yeah, he kicked Invincible’s ass. Mark got saved by machine head’s bullet

Eve- she held her own against Dragon better than mark, and tho he escaped used her powers to stop multipaul in a way that didn’t get her punched multiple times like Invincible did against him. Watching the show, she seems the more effective super hero

Immortal- have these two truly gone head to head? Not alternate universe evil Invincible. Using Omni man as a proxy, immortal landed a few blows. Invincible really never did. Omni man just didn’t want to kill mark as quickly as he wanted to dispatch Immortal.

Mauler Twins- multiple times they’ve gotten the jump on Mark. Even physically. With their ability to make weapons they’re better.

Oliver- I don’t care about head cannons of “mark was holding back”. Oliver was clearly stronger against the common opponent Mauler Twins. If mark was just “holding back” then I’d buy him not punching a hole in their chest, but he shouldn’t struggle defensibly. It should have been no sells like against the future twins.

Earth centipede- this thing won. It’s stronger. Cecile needs to fit those things with control collars. Power scaling here all fucked up as the cyborgs handled them but mark likes using them as guilt free piñatas.

Giant monster from season 1- in the end I think Invincible took it out but he was begging his dad for help multiple times.

Off world non viltrumites- battle beast and Allen even before the Zenkai boost

So at best mark is top 8 on earth, barely top 10 of non Viltrumites galaxy wise. Anyone I missed? He could very well be lower.

And like, he’s even struggled with lesser villains like the flame and intestine guy who were part of machine heads crew, as well as barely handling the first cyborg he fought and if it hadn’t suicided might have ended the series right there.

Good list but you need Mark is no match for any true Sherdogger, and yes, we are a multiversal creature and exist in any and all plains.

:meow:

Anybody else annoyed with Mark's reaction in episode 1 and 2 when he realized Cecil was employing bad guys? Reading that moment in the comics was one thing, but seeing it in animation made Mark look even more like a whiny bitch. I understand his naive, idealistic stance but I am siding with Cecil on this one. All the heroes would have died underground if it wasn't for the aid of Reanimen and Darkwing. But more importantly, there's a war coming against the Viltrumite Empire and they need all the help and resources they can to stop Earth from being conquered.

Everyone was annoyed by that.
Especially after Cecil called him out for killing before and going unpunished, and helping his mass-murderer father.
Even after that Mark was still making threats in the form of demands - "I'm not leaving until they're back behind bars."

That said, that was immediately after Mark was nearly beaten to death by the giant earthworms & Doctor Seismic. One thing that hasn't been mentioned previously is the dozens of times Mark has been nearly beaten to death and would be suffering from several layers of CTE.

But also, apparently Mark has developed some kind of healing factor because at one point in the 1st episode in the battle with the earthworms Mark is stabbed with a very wide piercing tentacle to he left portion of his chest.
Anyone would have bled out within seconds, but not only does he not need to go to the hospital (like in the 1st Season after nearly being killed by Battlebeast) the wound doesn't need to be field-dressed and it just slowly heals over the course of the rest of the 1st and 2nd episodes.

2/3rd through the 2nd episode, telling Eve about Cecil and the entire situation.

That Mauler twin fight made no sense. Seeing how easily his kid brother smashed their skulls, Mark fighting the twins should be like an adult pro fighter fighting a 5 year old. You can go easy on the 5 year old and let him hit you, but it shouldn't hurt even if he lands clean punches to your chin.

Love seeing the flashback to the destruction of Chicago. When the human element shines, invincible the show shines.

“Til 2a grows up”? Is that Oliver or some “cell” type bio weapon they’re growing?

Ah damn. Oliver and Mark talking about their dad. That’s a good hard talk.

Ah fuck. Is mark gonna get wrecked by another C list villain? This one who gives motivational speeches to his counsel/girlfriend?

stop trying to make Amber a thing. We hate her. Move on. Don’t try to make her more perfect. That just makes it worse.

Just send in Rex to hand the crazy. lol. Martian dude shows up. Guardians of the globe got DEId hard. (Don’t kill me)

Fuck it. De de aging belt was awesome. I won’t knit pick. Someone deserves something nice in this world.

Rex is totally gonna die. His charterer arc is complete. He may as well show someone on the front lines a picture of his girl back home.

God fucking damnit. Mark got wrecked by another C list villain. I don’t care if he didn’t lose. He sure as shit didn’t win.

Multiverse is the worst concept ever created. I’m gonna tune the next couple episodes out I think.

Human element was good but...

Every week I'm like GET TO THE VILTRUMITES

I don't think you want to do that.
It's the final two episodes of the season.
I have a gut feeling some bad shit is about to go down between Mark VS 8 Evil Marks from other verses.

This is like GoT, with them saving the most consequential events happening in the final episode and a half, and the last half of the final episode is the aftermath and hyping up the next season.

Watching the new episode now, and Aaron Paul does a damn good job with his VO.
He was better as Todd in Bojack Horseman but I think it has more to do with the script. This episode shows the weakness of the script. The dialogue doesn't flow naturally in some scenes like when Mark meets Kyle. That honestly was awkward.

This episode got dark though.

Mark gets his ass kicked once again by a c level villain but I can't blame him too much this time. He's trying his best not to fight and Powerplex only gets stronger if you hit him so the only way to stop him is to kill him. At least this time the ass kicking wasn't too bad and I don't think Mark was ever really in trouble.

He should've been quick and gotten the woman and baby out of harm's way though. Huge fail on his part. Now Jessie Pinkman is extra radicalized.

Viltrumite Mark with the mustache lol. I guess we get the Invincible War next episode?

Also agree we don't need Amber anymore in the show. She does nothing for the plot. We got to see that Mark is mature enough to handle being around his ex. Okay, cool now let's move on from her.

'Loud and Emotional' Aaron Paul scenes in Breaking Bad were few and far between.
In this episode it was on the verge of being overdone. Almost too much in one episode.

But 'on the verge' and 'almost' isn't quite there. It was fine. I just hope the VO director has him tone it down in his next appearance.

This episode got dark though.
Yup, in that moment you're referring to I thought 'holy shit.... they broke the most unbreakable rule in superhero stories.'

The Spider-Man villain Electro usually gets a bad rap as a 'C-Level Villain' but mostly because of the lack of a serious rivalry between him and Spider-Man. But his power-levels, which I saw a similarity to Powerplex, absolutely is a threat... and anyone who's ever been seriously zapped by electricity knows what I'm referring to.
The problem that I don't think any Spider-Man writer has accurately conveyed is how devastating large amounts of electricity can be to anything living.

If written correctly, Powerplex could have been the biggest non-vultrumite threat Mark has fought. Unfortunately they did a better job at conveying how 'multi-verse portal man' was a bigger threat at the end of the second season.

Alot of lost potential this episode, and while I'd say its still pretty good its the weakest of the season.

Now Jessie Pinkman is extra radicalized.
'Radicalized' is the perfect word for it because his zealotry reminded me of a Sharia Islamic Terrorist.
'You did this. I'm justified in all actions I take to avenge deaths you are responsible for. All innocent people's deaths that happen while I'm trying to kill you you are also responsible for.'

Also agree we don't need Amber anymore in the show. She does nothing for the plot. We got to see that Mark is mature enough to handle being around his ex. Okay, cool now let's move on from her.
I get the feeling they're about to kill her off.
I've heard alot of speculation Rex is about to sacrifice himself too.

i've always assumed Mark if growing into his full powers and yes, a healing factor similar to Wolverine's was in the cards. i assumed that based on how we have seen his Dad beaten and then showing no ill effects soon thereafter.

Main course, part 1 is served up ep 7.

No more filler.

I'll be 100% honest -

This episode was a mess. Not 'bad' but with what the the ending of the previous episode was hyping up, this didn't come close to meeting.

For all the plot-points they went through the episode feels like they tried to overstuff the short runtime while it felt somewhat shallow... like eating far too much rare steak.
(Best analogy I could think of at this moment)

And so many of the events felt... out of order.
The absolute height of emotional investment of the entire episode was Rex and that happened at 25 minutes into the 51 minute.
Then the rest was involving Angstrom Levy... and I had to Google his name because thats how much I don't care about him.
He and Mark barely have a 'rivalry' compared to the greatest rivalries in both Comics & TV shows.
It makes me wonder if in the comics their development is more... developed... because here its paper-thin.

By the way, apparently in the world of Invincible getting your body pulverized and brains splattered across a six foot radius is just a minor inconvenience.

For me, this is the exact opposite of Season 2... which started off quite weak (first 3 episodes) but got better as the season progressed.
Season 3 started off awesome (first 5 episodes) and between last week's and today's episodes, it's going downhill.
If what I think is going to happen in the 8th episode happens, then at least the season will end on a very strong note.

I haven't read this anywhere, so if I'm right don't think I'm spoiling it, but what I think happens is -
Omni-Man returns to Earth.

Episode was entertaining but the pacing did feel a bit off. Don’t want to call it a wasted opportunity but it feels like they could’ve done more with it.

No one in Invicible stays dead unless you were the OG guardians of the Globe

Rex is such a fucking goner

Mark can even lose a 1v1 fight against himself. He really is shit at this super hero thing

Debbie is the GOAT cartoon mom

lol. Contingency plan worked.

Well I now see where their animation budget went for the season. This is fun.

Yup. Salute to you Rex.

Camera orb bullets is dumb. These should be ping pong balls to him

Mark gets saved by the villain’s partners? Instead of having to actually face the kill or not question? I don’t like the duck.

This is probably my Angatrom/multiverse hate coming out

Good season cohesion. They had a theme in mind and they stuck to it.

Eve’s mom is such a tragic character. Like the abused wife who allows her daughter to take her alcoholic husbands worst because afraid it’ll be turned on her. It makes me uncomfortable.

Immortal and Kate’s relationship should be a War Room thread.

Ah fuck. Kick em when they’re down. Goddamn. Please. Let’s see super saiyan Mark here. Pleased finally live up to the potential.
