Interview with Jon Jones' Physique Trainer

i was only responding to the idea that a giant bodybuilder is the best guide to fitness and strength advice for natural athletes. i do think he knows his shit but i don't know that much about him.

He's not just a bodybuilder though. He's got a raw powerlifting total of 2303lbs, you don't get that strong by accident regardless of PEDs. If Jon is looking to get strong in order to perform better at HW then Stan is one of the best to guide him. Plenty of info out there to better form an educated opinion. Up to you bud.

i'm saying optimal performance training on PED's is going to be different than optimal performance training natural. my opinion i offered was not specific to him. i made that clear. you simply can't train the same way as a natty. that's what i said.

I enjoyed the video, I think this is an interesting addition to Jones' training team and It's going to be interesting to see what comes out of all this when Jones actually does finally fight at HW. Clearly this guy Stan is very experienced and knowledgeable and if it helps Jones i some way prepare and get used to fighting bigger stronger opposition then it's good for Jones.

he's not on what that guy is on......he's not on a bodybuilding stack.

but i'm sure you think he is.....
Dude is on something you don't just gain 30lbs+ of lean mass in your mid 30s lets not forget his test levels were damn near 0 according to USADA

To get strong yeah for sure he's the man. To get more explosive i dunno. i have yet to see jones do any explosive work like olympic lifting, kettlebell swings, box jump or even basic clapped push ups or pendlay rows. He only posted that sprint video a few days ago and that's the only explosive workout i saw from him.

So yeah his absolute strength is going to be up and he's going to be a strong grappler in the clinch and on the ground but my guess is he'll be way less dynamic when it comes to striking or takedowns in the center of the cage. And that's really detrimental especially when you fight ngannou

I genuinely don't think that it's worth it for Jones to try and learn the olympic lifts at this point. Maybe high pulls... power cleans at most.

yeah of course i wasn't talking about full snatch or C&J but their easier variations. Power clean, high pulls mayybe power snatch. But even just the power clean would be good. Then again he doesn't eve' seem to do way simpler explosive work like kettlebell swings or box jumps so my remark stands. I think he'll be strong but way less dynamic of a fighter.

yea at 245 lbs of pretty much pure muscle, that seems way too low. When Floyd Mayweather was in jail for a bit I remember his lawyers complaining that he wasn't getting enough food, because of his training he needed like 8000 calories a day or something like that.
Bullshit. No way a small guy like Floyd needs 8k

Yeah, I agree. He could easily do both strenght/hypertrophy and explosiveness since he doesn't even fight anymore.

he hasn't gained 30 lbs of lean mass.

plus...:
Dr. Christiane Ayotte, the head of the WADA-accredited laboratory in Montreal, saw no problem with Jones' T/E ratio. "I read the interviews of 'specialists' on that topic [in MMA media accounts], and, well, I am sorry, but such T/E values are not at all abnormal," she said.
and i'm not saying jones has never used anything....most guys have......

he might be doing those things, just not at a level he's confident posting video of. social media is all ego shit..
