International/Olympic wrestling discussion.

Lot of "old" guys did really well. Seems wrestlers are lasting longer these days.

Quite a few guys 30+ medaled. On the Greco side Lopez is pushing 40.

Hopefully that inspires guys like Dake and Taylor to continue.

Not just wrestling, in almost every sport right now you're seeing previous generations staying competitive for longer than in the past.

My theory is chemicals in the water turning the kids effay.

Yes, that was my feeling as well.
I have a YouTube channel where I post clinic vids occasionally. Guerrila has started commenting on them because apparently he’s been banned from everything lol

That is... pretty much exactly what i would expect. Both the making an ass of himself everywhere part, and also the obsessive stalking of anyone who might've triggered narcissistic injury in him part.

Meeting other mediocre coaches either unwilling or unable to do the coaching to gain legitimacy. with the same “yeah well I’m the Freco guy” helped put him in perspective. They’re always dads or coaches who never actually wrestled or if they did. No where close to high level.

I’m simply in Aw he somehow was banned from SHERDOG multiple times

Next Olympic Wrestling event with Freestyle Wrestling, Greco Roman Wrestling and for the first time Grappling!

If we’re advocating styles simply to make ones country more competitive. Folkstyle should be added too.

USA and Brazil have also strong grapplers. This ruleset is ideal if you have a strong stand up wrestling game and submission skills.

It depends on ones goals.
If you want to be a feeder program for mma. Sure.

If you want to have a chance to be relevant. Sure

I don't know Jack. The ancient Olympic Wrestling was a submission style. Wrestlers also competed in Pankration.
Wrestling is the best base for mma so there is not the reason to be a feeder program for mma.

The goal is the second of your list. Today Spain grab a third place in Grappling and you have a new competitive nation in another WRESTLING style.

And there are tons to chose from
Yeah, I guess I was specifically thinking of American folkstyle, AKA, American scholastic wrestling. LOL. It'd be cool to see international kushti or laamb, etc. though. Except at the same time that might end up sacrificing the unique character of those arts.

Kushti is similar to Olympic freestyle. Only difference is that it is done in very fine sand. In the past, there were no time limits. But, I think that has changed.

Yep, I know it. Very similar to Olympic freestyle and American folkstyle. I'm a big fan, since I take it be a sort of ancestor of something that's been a big part of my life.
