Interesting take on why McDonald's(fast food) prices are so high now.

And again, corporate greed in The Western World's countries is still in existence as a result. This isn't just the US and Canada. Have you looked into all the other countries going through exactly what we are here?

I said "like the governments of the US, Canada, etc..". This was explicitly stated to indicate that I wasn't just talking about the US and Canada.

I'm at a loss as to what we're disagreeing about.

If you want to discuss greed, then sure greed is ever present in all nations, all corporations, in all of history. If you are making the case that it is greed and not inflation that is behind the increased fast food prices then fine. Maybe it's a factor I don't really know. I guess you'd have to look at what the profitability is now compared to pre-covid.

If they didn't have control over their government, they wouldn't be allowed to put all their money in the cayman islands

Also you just went from 'they pay 45%' income tax' to 'yeah they pay 0% income tax but that's just because they hide their income.'

Which is it?

It doesn’t matter what the law says if they flout the law. It just means guys like you read 'ooh 45% income tax!' and don't investigate if they actually pay it.

Do you have reading comprehension issues? I was responding to your comment and assertion that money was being hidden overseas.

Anyways, I'm done with this fruitless argument. We are spinning in circles

The point is, these worldwide corporations hiked their prices up all over the world. Not getting in your car because you've been told to stay home in France, Germany, wherever? Up goes the price of gas.

Everyone agrees prices have gone up for pretty much everything. Even the cost of groceries. The only question is why exactly. Inflation (devaluation of the currency) is the most obvious factor, as to other factors it's certainly up for discussion. If corporations are posting record profits per item sold then sure that suggests greed and/or lack of competition.

I'm no economist so merely conjecture. After all of these gigantic worldwide companies put their prices up, would it affect their share price putting them back down again and that's why the world is in this financial catastrophe? @Brampton_Boy ?

Just straight out greed nowadays. Im in the construction industry where prices have increased over 30% and increasing about 5% every couple of months. It initially was blamed on covid and availability of raw materials, now its pulling a price out of their arse thats sounds great then running with that . Thats just the suppliers. That with too many builds on the go, trades can pick and choose what jobs they want to do and at the price they want , making it difficult sometimes to get certain features in a house being done ( ie raking ceilings for example)
The builder cops the flak, with customers moaning that the builder is ripping them off , when in fact they are getting jipped by suppliers and trades.
The bubble is going to burst eventually and its not going to be pretty
