Interesting fight. Winnable fight for Max. How's his wrestling though?

We haven't seen much of It throughout his career.

maybe one of you guys has more info than I do.

Generally speaking though, Max seems like the kind of guy you can't count out of any fight.

Would be funny if he managed to beat Khabib and then Max / Conor rematched In a champ vs champ match.

max will get barboza'd.

but we get to watch khabib call out conor on the mic after the fight, that should be entertaining.

max kinda cant lose here..

what are you gonna do?.....make fun of him for losing to worldbeater-khabib on short notice in a diff division? pfffttttt.

It's not bad, he had some good takedowns against Pettis, but I don't think he can defend against Khabib

He needs to make the most of the time he has on the feet

Probably not good enough. But props to him for stepping up and somewhat saving this shitty situation.

If Khabib gasses he's got a shot , if not, he gets ragdolled. Regardless, he gets paid and has brass balls.

He hasn't been tested as he has been fighting mainly strikers.

It doesn't matter though, khabib is simply too strong for him even if he does have decent wrestling chops. He will have to rely on his footwork and cardio for this fight.

He's coming off an ankle injury and now he has to defend TD's for 5 rounds. Not looking good.

His TDD is very very good. However, given that this is a short notice fight, I have my doubts that he'll be able to stave off Khabib at all, let alone for 5 rds. If he had a full camp behind him, though, it may be a different story.

He's getting taken down regardless.

All depends if he can make Khabib work enough at the beginning of the fight, without taking too much damage, to have a shot in the later rounds.

Tony was tailor made for this, but Max might be too small and unprepared.

All I know is Im picking Max. If Khabib doesnt get Max down early he's going to get beat up bad.

I’m going to rewatch all of Max’s UFC fights. Just to make sure I’m not overlooking anything.

Either guy can win any fight. But Max will need everything to go perfectly for him. And a little luck never hurts.

Khabib’s wrestling combined with what I expect to be a big weight difference. Really makes it hard to see anything but Max getting rag dolled.

All that matters is he will be taken good care of for stepping up like this. 5k bonus for being a warrior.

Two completely different match-ups. Barboza is a dynamic striker with a lot of fast twitch. It's a lot harder for him to fight going backwards because he has to be planted to generate power. He's also more known for his kicks than his punches. This worked out well for Khabib because just pressured him the entire time, causing him to either commit premature or telegraph what he was going to throw.

Max on the other hand is more like one of the Diaz brothers. Damage over time, better hand combinations. Strikes from awkward angles. I think he picks his shots better. The hard sell will be that he couldn't do anything when Conor took him down; but that was a long time ago. I think Max takes this one via TKO.

So why can't the HEALTHY Champ step up and fight Khabib?

Divisions are there for a reason and you all will soon realise that. Max holloway has nothing for Khabib. He has no KO power, no submission game nothing . He doesn't hve the TDD required for Khabib also add to the fact that its on 6 days notice . This is gonna be the most lopsided beatdown ever seen in UFC.

I see your points, yes Holloway is a more forward boxer... but I think khabib takes it to the ground. would be cool to see max win just so conor isn't the only champ champ..... but if my nuts were on the choppin block, im pickin khabib.

He lacks one-punch power, relies on accumulation of damage and cardio. Khabib won’t have to sweat getting slept by him and will march forward into a td, and the fight shall stay there. Max has good wrestling from what i recall, but Khabib is world class. I like Max but this feels like a nightmare fight for him given the circumstances. Not much to lose going up on 6 days notice, and a rematch/payday with Conor in the event that he pulls it off

One punch power is actually worse in a situation where you're fighting someone exhausting like Khabib. That explosive energy gets sapped real fast, and once it's gone there's no chance.
