Inglourious Basterds (2009) review

Fucking HATE eli roths movies, but I love him in this.

I love this movie but the blonde bitch and German sniper hurt my replays.

I still adore this movie despite that.
I resonate with this. The actor that portrays the German sniper just has such a punchable face. Maybe that was the point? I dunno but I could not stand him. Come to think of it I can’t stand him in any movie. I cheered when he got burnt to death in Danny Boyle’s sci fi.

It was good until it turned into Shoshana the movie halfway into the movie.

Just another Uma Thurman lookalike for Tarantino to jerk of to

I liked it a lot. I think the end where Landa switched sides in a way made a ton of sense. He didn't really care about the Nazi cause or exterminating the Jews. He was simply an opportunist. He was good at hunting Jews and did it as a job in a sense. Once he saw the writing on the wall he jumped at the next best opportunity to side with the winning team.

Or do you mean the end in the theater? Ya, that was a bit odd, but kind of on par with the movie and QT's style of going over the top and weird.

10/10

This.

The actor playing the Nazi in that scene was money. He popped up out of nowhere, pretty convenient for the plot lol.
He does appear before, in the scene when they are interviewing Shoshanna about having the movie in the premiere.

It makes sense that he was reading and the lower rank wouldnt bother him.

I dont think he's supposed to be liked, really.

Him as an opportunist makes sense, but not well established. He was so good in his job, it seemed he was in love with the Nazi's ideology. Maybe if there was a scene where Goebbels was talking down to him, it would make more sense for him to flip at the end.

He appeared in a scene before the basement scene, but what was he doing in the actual basement at that very moment? Did he get a lead on Diane Kruger being a spy? Maybe there was a scene that didn't make the cut.

It was already pretty convenient that there would be more Germans in the basement than previously thought. I think this was a wink-wink Quentin-ism begging the audience to let him allow a Mexican standoff, because how cool would it be to have Allies and Nazis in that predicament?

He states that he loved his title "Jew Hunter" but later he says "it's just a name that stuck" and some other things with the French guy that seems to imply he is very much into the Nazi ideology.

I think he was just telling Aldo that "it's just a name that stuck" so he'd be more cooperative.

I think in the end you dont really know, which is cool for me imho.

Agreed. He reminds me of Hugo Weaving's Red Skull. Herr Schmidt didn't give a fuck about the Nazis; they were just a means to an end. As soon as Hitler was no longer necessary to his plans, Red Skull was more than willing to kill him.
