Conor gets a lot of flak for taking fights on short notice, his haters love it, he's doomed if he wins and doomed if he loses, they don't understand the disadvantages of last minute opponent changes can have on your performance.

Muscle memory, training for a specific fighter adjusts your body to respond and react in certain ways to certain environments.

Example: if your facing a wrestler, your going to invest more time into wrestling in your camp, now your not going to become an awesome wrestler putting an emphasis on wrestling, but what it will do is by putting yourself into situations that you will run in, and drilling those, will allow shorter reaction time, better technique, and better energy expenditure.

Now the positives that the opponent specific training gives, carries the exact negatives with an opponent change, meaning the reaction time will be longer, technique will be worse, and energy sufficiency will be off.

Basically you've spent months training your body for one thing, and nowe asking to do something else.

This is why Jon Jones said Chael was too dangerous as a short notice replacement for Hendo.

Why Werdum ducked Stipe.

This is also, in my opinion why GSP looked bad in his fight with Hendricks, because he wasn't prepared for Hendricks, and you can see it in the first round.

This is why very few fighters accept last minute opponent changes.

Conor went from preparing for a 5'9, wrestleboxer RDA to a 6'1 boxer-JJ.

Diaz' last opponent was 5'9 southpaw Michael Johnson.

So who got the raw end of that stick??

It's still the guy who got 10 days to train for the fight.

Conor is the one who claims that "there is no opponent other than himself" and that he doesnt train for any specific fighter so that hes ready for anyone at any time. Hes the one who picked Nate in the first place. He only has himself to blame.

Yeah and I bet when Conor says that he is Aldo's daddy and owns Rio De Janiero you believe him.

No matter how you spin it, training for a different fight > not training at all.

Also Conor says that he doesn't train for a specific opponent so it shouldn't matter. His words not mine, I think gameplanning is important.

Really? Then why did he hand pick Nate if he didnt believe that he could easily adjust to the opponent change because of the way he prepares?

Even if there *styles* are similar, doesn't really help, Diaz's boxing is very different then RDA's,

Things to look at is reach, speed, volume puncher? Or hard hitter?? Height, frame.

Diaz is a totally different fighter then RDA in every aspect.

also said size wouldn't be an issue then proceeded to cry like a lil kid about it after he choked and got choked

Then don't accept the fight?

wait, you're blaming diaz for beating mcgregor on short notice? wtf

Yeah and I bet when Conor says that he is Aldo's daddy and owns Rio De Janiero you believe him.

then conor shouldn't say stupid things

Conor would have to face this issue regardless of who he fights unless it's RDA.

All of this is invalid because Conor himself chose Diaz and said diaz was basic and that he could beat anyone in the ufc and how he felt better than ever

Great point, TS. Since Nate didn't accept a fight on short notice and has been training for Connor for 6 weeks, it wasn't fair for Connor.

Really, what different training partners does he have. Would he have changed up his stylistic flow chi grappling with Ido if he knew it was going to be Nate? How would his preperation be different than a fight with a beast like RDA? He should have been ready for everything like he always says he is. Nate is the guy who should have gassed with 10 days notice and a 3 day camp.

You do realize that these issues would be present with any opponent change, not just with Diaz right??

Conor hype's fight, I don't understand why anybody takes what he says so seriously when he's selling fights.

Lets be honest it's not like Conor has all these different tools and fight styles he can train for different opponents, a left hand good fight IQ and Ido trained movement, so how much adjustment does he really have to do...?

I find it really funny, how Conor haters actually believe that mma fighters out of camp, can't even do a round.

Nate is an endurance athlete, and most set backs he has inside the octagon is because he's an endurance athlete who lacks explosive, fast twitch athletism.

It's not that, you prepare for the range, the pace, the style of your opponent.

For instance how many times did Conor get tagged throwing uppercut's from the outside?? RDA wouldn't of been able to counter those as easily as Nate because of Nate height and reach.
