News I'm watching the Johnny Depp defamation case

in 20 years i'll be browsing some shitty clicbait website and there will be an add on the bottom of the shitty article i'm reading that says

"These 20 celebs have regulars jobs now"
I would expect Amber Heard to be on that list
20 years? I expect that this time next year.

I mean, we're already there; she's a 35-year old actress. She still looks good but the industry is what it is. Getting married to Depp and taking 10M from him in the divorce settlement was probably the best financial move she ever made, even if it's fucked up.

Depp screwed himself too though. I remember that 10-15 years ago when Depp was interviewed he would talk about the substance abuse issues he had in his youth, how it had almost killed him and how thankful he was that he had managed to get over it. Essentially he would present his drug and alcohol habits as squarely a thing of the past, and put forward a feel-good success story. Fast-forward to now and it's clear thanks to the trials that it's not a thing of the past at all, in fact his problems are much more severe than I would have imagined. It's one thing to vaguely know that an actor partakes, but if you're a production company hiring an actor then you now know for a fact Depp is basically out of his mind half of the time - not really worth the trouble. He's almost 60 too. His career is pretty much over and he wasted the last years of it.

The last minutes of Camille's cross was fucking insane! She completely destroyed her and Heard was visibly shook. Stuttering and saying completely ridiculous replies.

I think I missed it. What happened?

The male vs female dynamic is relevant to the discussion. Of course it stands to reason people will bring it up. Heard was awarded $7 million and got away with ruining her exes career and reputation, in large part, because she is a woman. Hell, she was the one who stated, "no one will believe you; you're a man."

Yeah that's what I'm talking about, people making it about sex differences rather than just abuse. She is a piece of work for sure!

So what's up with Ellen Barkin, is she going to testify soon?

You are watching the exposure and destruction of a complete sociopath. This is some Jodi Arias type shit. You can't run that "babe in the woods" routine in a courtroom against lawyers who have mountains of evidence to the contrary.

It's pretty disgusting that people make this shit about male Vs female when your talking about abuse. Mentioning metoo etc. Really someone being a cunt is nothing to do with all that.

What's cool is that we're all pretty united about this. Depp Vs Heard has managed to bring us all together in beautiful harmony.

I guess this is a really good case of privilege leading someone into a real overeach. She's a hot woman, how dare people start judging her the same as everyone else. Everyone in her life so far has let her get away with all sorts of shit and interpersonal violence is usually acceptable if your attractive and a female.

I think it's good and necessary that people bring up the male vs female aspect of this. While this case is about one abusive partner, there is a larger problem that exists about how men are perceived in domestic violence cases.

Amber's own psychologist implied in this case that victims are female and perpetrators are male. Amber herself said "try and tell the world you were abused as a man and see who believes you".

Depp's reputation and career took a huge hit because of the accusations, despite the fact that he was the victim.

All that being said, it's a net positive that this case is happening in the public eye and bringing to light how men can be victims of domestic abuse as well as false allegations.

at this point, i think the only way she can continue a career in the entertainment industry is going into the adult side of it. She can own up to it and at the end of each video, show her taking a crap on the bed.
I don't know how she can continue getting roles after this case.

She will be in court for years to come, next up lawsuit against Hollywood elites for being blacklisted..

3:50 Why didn't Depp's lawyer show the court the police report about Heard's incident with her then gf.? Did the judge disallow it? I'm not following the trial so I'm abit lost here.

Because it is prejudicial. She got arrested for domestic abuse, but the GF declined to press charges. So no conviction.

If you were previously arrested for assault for example, but no conviction, and then years later, you were charged again for assault - the prosecution would have to prove your guilt from the new assault case evidence. Pointing out a previous assault arrest would be too prejudicial.

I wonder how its going to go when Depp gets cross examined , doubt it will be a crap show like what happened to Heard

I agree I guess. Except the last bit here I think needs modifying, people know men can be victims of abuse and false accusations, they just don't care. For evolutionary reasons.

I think he was suing for $50 million, and lost. That doesn’t mean he has to pay them $50 million. He’d be responsible for court costs to the Defendant which would likely be in the several hundreds of dollars, but likely not millions because usually court costs are not on a full indemnity basis (meaning the other side could have spent say $2 million on their lawyers but maybe he only had to pay them around $300k or so in costs).
So where does the 50 or 100 million come into it?

Every audio recording btw the two, she is always the dominant voice, showing zero fear of JD. The accusations seem ridiculous.
that means fuck all though, I'm too proud. Not saying she ISN'T the dominant one because she appears to have been the main abuser throughout the relationship but there have been times I've been way out of my depth and really quite scared but there's no way I'l not sound really strong. It's a fault that's got me in a spot of bother many times.

There's a part me that's ashamed to take so much joy for this.

But it's a very small part of me.

The best part about that story was they accused the arresting officer of being anti LGBT, but the arresting officer was herself a lesbian.
