I'm rooting for Derrick Lewis but.......

Gane via boring UD

Don't ever underestimate the heart of a champion!

This is one of those fights where I actually like both fighters, so I hate to see either of them lose. Having said that, I see Gane taking every round, but I would not be surprised if he gets caught in 4th or 5th. I’m never writing Lewis off.

Do you read your own comments before you hit the button?
Sorry not sure what goes on in your mind, but I would not want him on top of me in side control or mount, smashing my face in.

Maybe you had other thoughts about him on top of you or your wife pounding away, but I was looking at it from a fighting perspective.

Sorry your mind is that warped, lay off the porn buddy

I can't help but to think this fight will be another repeat of Gane vs Rozen.
Gane will dart in & out like a point fighter, while his opponent comes in at him in a slow moving plodding motion, hoping to get that one big KO.

Will this fight be any different?
I think Lewis is vulnerable to the body, and Gane can exploit his arsenal of range weapons (teeps, etc) to hurt/exhaust Lewis en route to a late stoppage. Of course, Lewis always has the chance to catch Gane coming in, which may make Gane hesitant to close the distance.

I really think Gane puts on a clinic. With that said I won't be betting this fight, or any Lewis fight. He's proven that he can win a fight at anytime, no matter how bad he's losing.

Don't think this will be boring. This fight is in Lewis hometown, he is not the timid type and will get to Gane and land some bombs. I cannot see Derrick just take punishments for 5 rounds, he will press forward.

I actually think Gane will hurt him with body kicks &/or leg kicks & finish with follow up strikes.

Blaydes could have finished Lewis with leg kicks if he was smarter. The ghosts of JDS & Hunt finished Lewis, Volkov & Browne nearly did as well with body kicks.

Gane's style is a terrible matchup for Lewis imo.

DC provided the perfect blueprint to beating Lewis.

Shoot for takedowns early on and force Lewis to carry all that weight when clinched against the cage. Take Lewis down and sub him or throw heavy shots.

He doesn't have any takedown defense and doesn't know how to scramble unless his opponent gives up and let's him get back on his feet.

Those are my exact thoughts on this. I also want to see Francis face both of them so it sucks one has to lose.

That's pretty much how everyone see it going. Even Gane's fans.
Exactly. It’s a technical fighter vs a brawler with one shot ko power. Not to hard to see how this is going to go. However the thing about Lewis is he has deceptively fast hands for his size and so there is a real chance he will ko gane. Question is can gane take one of Lewis punches? How is his chin? Because there is a good chance Lewis is going to crack him at least once during the fight and a lot of times when Lewis cracks a guy they go out. So will this be the case with gane, or will he be to quick in and out and not let off the gas with the jab and let kicks for Derek to catch him?

your talking like Lewis hasn’t gotten any better since those fights in which I think he has. His fight iq is better and is more patient.

Here's the best wrestler in the HW division with the highest td percentage in deep on a single leg, even pulls Lewis away from the cage, but still can't complete the td.

I'd like Lewis to win but can't see it unless he catch's him with a wild bomb.

The problem watching BB fights, is that you know he is the "inferior fighter", but you can't count him out until the very last second of the fight....
