Media "I'm not done fighting." - Chris Weidman

That he was surprised and seemingly even offended Tavarez tried to destroy the injured leg encapsulates why he should retire - he's thinking like a civilian now, not a fighter. His response needed to be "Of course I expected it, and I would do the exact same thing in his position." I'm not sure his ego ever came down from knocking Anderson out, despite reality trying to check it so many times.
Ya know, I was pointing that out too, and the more I think about it, the more I assume he's just full of shit. He comes from a smart camp, there's NO way they didn't prepare him for getting attacked. But just like someone else pointed out, he was 'in his prime' beforehand, then 'rusty' after he lost. Frankly, I think he's just saying whatever shit excuse he can say at any given time depending on what he needs to say for his own sanity.

If I'm Serra or Longo sitting hearing Chris say that, I'd be thinking "What? We DID specifically talk about that. In detail. What are you talking about?" The amount of stupid that would take among the bunch of them to think Tavares, a pretty good leg kicker, wasn't going to kick his popularly injured leg is too monumental to be true. I gotta think it's more him going "I just got asked a question about what went wrong. Surely, something must have gone wrong, or else I'd have won. Maybe it's this." And if he gets asked again in a week, maybe his brain will conjure up something different. He's just caught up in that competitive delusion, where he still thinks he's a champ out on his luck.

Book him vs Robocop so he can go out in style. Bloody broken style.

you devil

2-7 in his last 9 fights.

This is where the UFC should just let him go if he insists he wants to keep going. Shits just ridiculous at this point. Let him go get brain damage somewhere else

He... didn't think... Tavares would attack his injury. Fully admitting he knows it's the fight game and he should have assumed it. He just didn't count on that tactic..

Fuckin... I don't care if he was still in his physical prime. His fight IQ has devolved to the sub-basement. Just retire.

Also, Tavares attacked the uninjured leg first. He started attacking the injured leg only once Weidman went southpaw.

I'll admit that Chris did... marginally better than I expected (or Brad just massively underperformed), but Weidman is still patently not going to last out there. He keeps going like this and he's just going to get hurt badly.

UFC should give him a top 5, just to hammer the fact that he is done. He won't back down, he needs to be put down. What better way than a top 5? Be at the end of a humiliating KO sequence? He needs a reality call since those closest to him seemingly can't tell him what the fuck is up. Robocop, Gastelum, Bearjew, Vettori, Canonier, or if they want to go crazy, Whittaker. WAR TEH CHRIS

Chris says he's not done fighting. Says the fight was tough and says he was rusty.
Says he wants to continue training and fighting cause he believes in himself. Says he feels the support from fans, friends, and family is giving him strength.

He looks really down and in a lot of pain in this interview.
I really wish he'd step down. He's made good money and no reason to keep fighting when you don't need to.

He can always go back to being the spokesman for The Jewelry Gallary.

He won't back down. I expect he'll stand his ground on this. In this brutal line of work, baby, there ain't no easy way out. He won't back down.

LOL! If being at the end of a humilating KO sequence was all this took, wouldn't he have already retired several times over?

Teh Chris is like that mythological character who made a deal with the devil in exchange for being the best and realized it was a setup to a let down and now he owes his soul.

He cannot and will not retire until either the devil claims his soul in the cage or Teh Chris is finally in a state where his family are tortured forever with memories of how present and capable a human being he once was. Either way the devil needs to be paid before this guy can quit. War Teh Chris. He's a hard guy to dislike. Very sympathetic character.

Lol at your first point, so very true. Teh Chris made that deal at the crossroads and now he's sinking down. I hope the UFC either matches him up with Robocop or another top 10, OR Teh Chris gets a taste of that legendary polish power at 205. Either should seal the deal and force him to back down.

Dana just needs to say no, and let him go take his business somewhere he can at least juice up to the gills, JDS style. He is done.
