Crime Illegal US Border Crossings On Track For Lowest Levels In Nearly 60 Years

Again most of the Venezuelans came here illegally and then got TPS afterward.

If you are going to call asylum applicants and tourist visa holders illegals then yeah, i supposed it is but that's not why one program was removed while the other wasn't.

Dude why don't you educate yourself on what's actually happening. Stop making me repeat myself.

The vast majority have not even officially applied for asylum. It takes YEARS to see an asylum judge. And the vast majority did not come on tourist visas, but just came through Mexico illegally.

A lot of Venezuelans are in legal limbo.

You don't have to see a judge, if you are going to be released into the interior you just need to apply at any border crossing.

Also do you have the number of the people who crossed illegaly vs the people who got there through ports of entry?

I liked Tulsi. I donated a $1 to her campaign so that she would qualify for the primary debate. She then went on to wreck Kamala. Money well spent.

Of the current pool, Fetterman is growing on me. Its nice to see someone who isn't afraid to speak up against the party every once in a while.
You just named one Republican and one barely Democrat lol but fair enough.

You have a fundamental misunderstanding of the situation. You seem to be under the impression that anyone that just shows up at ports of entry can automatically apply for asylum or temporary protected status. That is not the case.

The US government has severely restricted access to asylum at the border since 2017. There is a program called “Remain in Mexico” which forced certain asylum seekers to wait outside the US. So most had to stay in Mexico and the asylum backlog is on average 5 years to see a judge.

Then during the COVID-19 pandemic, asylum seekers at the border were just turned away without giving them a chance to present their cases for asylum. The rule was commonly referred to as “Title 42.”

So IN RESPONSE, a record number of Venezuelans came here ILLEGALLY starting in 2021 to now. Then most of them were just released into the country because they refused to be deported and Mexico wouldn't take them.

Then a many of them LATER got Temporary Protected Status to allow the to work TEMPORARILY. They have like 2 years to apply for asylum. This TPS is being allowed to expire by Trump.

This isn't some right wing conspiracy stats. This was all over mainstream news.

CBS: Record number of Venezuelan migrants crossed U.S.-Mexico border in September, internal data show

"Venezuela's refusal to accept U.S. deportations and Mexico's decision to only accept a limited number of Venezuelans means most of them are released from federal custody near the border."

TPS isn't being allowed to expire, it was cut off, i do understand your point much better, thank you for the explanation.

Record numbers of these urban, minority people voted for Trump because of the crime and illegals.
And even with the immigration debacle and arguably the worst candidate in presidential history, the left still carried the state handily.

I liked Chip Roy but he’s been all over the place lately. He’s an adjacent congressman to my district. My old congressman Chris Smith was legit 10 years ago but he’s a pushover now.

I legit don't even know who the rep of my own district is, and I'm quite certain that it doesn't matter. That's how irrelevant and pathetic United States Congress really is -- great power on paper via Constitution but in practice one of the most useless entities of any government on the globe. All this excessive fraud and waste, who's greenlighting that spending without even reading the fucking appropriations bills? Who has "the power of the purse"? What are these clowns even doing aside from standing there with their mouths agape as the President takes extraordinary action and power into his own hands. I'm being serious, the last one I could recall was Kyrsten Sinema before she ran for the Senate, left the Dems, and threw wrenches in the Biden Admin's agenda. It was the 9th district then, but that's apparently been moved to an entirely different area of the state and the seat is now held by Paul Gosar (known for attending groyper orgies and white nationalist rallies).

The noble answer is to help the unfortunate. The political answer? I don't know.
Help the unfortunate by screwing your actual constituents you are supposed to be representing and whose lives you were elected to improve?

They should be doing both if anything. As long as they dont put citizens second. There's still third world cities in America.

The TPS for Venezuelans was always supposed to expire. Biden just gave an extension. Then Trump revoked the extension.

So now, only the original TPS exists and most will lose status by 2025.

No they shouldn’t, their priority should be only their own citizens, that’s literally who pays their salaries and their only job is to serve their needs. If helping the unfortunate improves the lives of their citizens then they should do that too, but if it doesn’t they shouldn’t do it, it’s really that simple.

If they want to prioritize helping the unfortunate they can do it out of their own pockets not with the tax payers money.

It’s easy to be a prostitute with someone else’s ass.

That's what I'm saying. Don't sacrifice our infrastructure, education, health, and poverty stricken over helping illegals but if there's any country with the wealth to do it it's the USA. It's hard to say we're a super power and the leader of the free world with the best country on Earth but not lead in assisting those who need help.

Needs to turn up the heat to extend asylum applications suspension for at least 4 years. Then revamp it to where the US has to be the one setting the variables and reaching out, not awaiting applications.

But even then, even if you had unlimited infrastructure, health, education, and every one of your citizens was wealthy, you're STILL not gonna let whoever wants to cross into your country, because you still don't want cartel and gang members coming in ILLEGALLY.

What the Democrats did these past 4 years was simply inexcusable by every metric, and now that Trump has shown just how easy it is to stop it if you actually want to, it's just mind boggling that anyone disagrees with him on the immigration issue.

It's wild it's a 60 year low and not a, you know. Like 4ish years. The man who ran on wall building surely made waves in decreasing those numbers the first go around yeah?

TBH Trump has not significantly moved the needle at all in regards to deportations. Despite him trying.

It will be a long and hard fight to actually make a difference. Because we need a Congressional bill to be passed for comprehensive immigration reform.
