Rumored Ilia vs Paddy UFC 324 Paramount debut card

I have a feeling the UFC is trying to set up another Aldo/Mcgregor moment
Conor had faced much, much better competition before getting a fight with Aldo than Paddy has faced to date. Ilia is at least three or four steps up for Paddy, who struggled against Jared Gordon and Jordan Leavitt in his most recent fights against the living.

Ilia fans gonna be crying so hard, first saying Paddy doesn't deserve this shot, easy win, etc. Then saying OMG what happened?

I'm not an Ilia fan at all (wanted very badly for both Max and Charles to beat him) but...Paddy gonna get murdered bro.

Cannot wait to see Paddy crash and burn in horrible fashion. This is a rotten matchup for him.
I mean, I think Topuria is gonna win, but as far as matchup favorability it's at least decent for him, really one of the more favorable style matchups he could have and certainly more favorable than Oliveira against Topuria

At least Paddy has a size advantage, prefers grappling, and has a strong chin

Well Paddy's defense is even worse than Oliveira's so atleast you know there's gonna be a chin tested!

So this is their plan to get McGregor another title shot. Hope Paddy wins, manufacture a beef over being the King of Ireland, and Paddy fights McG at the White House. Disgoostin', but everyone will watch.

I figured this was the direction they were looking to take. Paddy has fan support, and Ilia has become world wide recognized. Add in this fight has been brewing since covid, it had big main event ticket written all over it. There was no reason to book other fights for them atm and risk this match up as a main event for the belt when they were in a pretty easy position to do so.

"first UFC Pay Per View event", isnt the point of Paramount+ to NOT be on PPV anymore?

Probably mean numbered event. They'll still number what were previously ppv's, and then have fight nights. You just wont have to buy the numbered events anymore.

Let's get this over with and on to the next one.

The build up should be good atleast.

I though the "rumor but 99% likley" match last month was Topuria vs. Gaethje.

justin didnt deserve it but i still wanted that fight more than this 1

I don't. Topuria has already beaten 3 strikers in their mid-30s. That proves nothing.

Paddy at least has a grappling threat, is a huge/strong LW and (so far) and unbroken chin. Ilia hasn't fought anyone like that. I want to see Topuria vs. someone else in their prime...besides Bryce Mitchell who was small enough to cut to BW.

If attitude means anything (it does) Paddy has that & more going for him

Eddie & Aldo were not in the right mindset to fight Conor & it cost them

Paddy seems genuinely unimpressed by hand sanitizer boy, he’s a lot bigger, seems to be getting better with every fight & is a man on a mission

Ilia’s a -600 fav but Paddy’s a legit dark horse & I’d love to see it

I heard Rogan said this could be the biggest fight in human history
The real BMF fight
