It's unfair for Makhachev to keep sacrificing his belt and I do think Ilia needs to fight some more people to get Islam, however,

If he gets the Islam fight and the thing with Ilia, he's always proving people wrong, if he beats Islam he beat 3 people who were at one point in the greatest of all time conversation

It's just crazy obviously he should have to beat others but if he beats Islam and he gets that fight first that'll be crazy

I do think though also, a lot of people are underestimating who Islam Makhachev is

I do think Topuria's last two wins are overblown, Volk was tenderized by Islam a few months prior, and Holloway's win was decent but he was past his prime

Tenderized? It's not like he got brain damage and it haunted him till the day he fought Ilia

Sure he got rocked and it was a head kick but he talked the same walked the same and he dressed up as an old man, he didn't have any devastating injury

As for Holloway, Holloway got 3 chances never beat Volk, what is his prime?

Beating Max Holloway is a lot more than a "decent" win

Volk was past his prime when he fought Illia. Max was still in his prime. Look what he did to Justin one fight prior (95% of the Sherdog didn't give him a chance against Gaethje) and he looked supergood against Topuria till the knockout.
Max win was more impressive than Volk win for Matador.

Jesus Christ people are stupid. How many times can you explain that age IS NOT state of the fighter?
Example Jan Błachowicz reached PRIME at age 37. Each fighter is different.
Results are speaking, not age.
Volk was KOed by Islam in second fight. But it was short notice. So it is excuse. BUT he did jack shit in Topuria fight.
'Eh eh but but he won first round' - no, they were feeling each other and almost nothing happened there.
2nd round - cold KO. Ilia was just praying on his victim.

So about topic title - No, Ilia's winstreak isn't that great.

pre-prime Yousef Zallal - decision
Damon Jackson - failed to be ranked last year. B level at best if I am generous.
Ryan Hall - good one trick pony
Jai Herbert - LW, had trouble but good win. But once again - C level guy.
Bryce Mitchell - I thought Bryce was better but later he was checked again by Emmett. B+ level
Josh Emmett - very good win. Emmett is a tank. I would say A- level guy. Very good - not elite and never was.
Volk - name value but past prime until proven otherwise. Dangerous Lopes will tell us more where he is standing. SuperElite but not anymore from what we are seeing.
Max Holloway - IMO the best win. Blessed was still in twilight of his prime. Looked great against elite Justin and beat him and looked good til KO by EL Matador.

Summary - I think Ilia made mistake by relinquishing his title. He wanted to speedrun division. Beat one elder goat and other FW goat but beside that two there was no elite competition. Only B and C level guys with exception of always dangerous Josh Emmett. Matador is very skilled and he might get past Islam but he still had something to prove at Featherweight with rising stars - Lopes and Evloev.
