Through all my years of watching MMA whenever I read "size" being an advantage it's almost always to compensate between the blatant lack of skills between the two competitors. Paddy's striking style is kind of like a dollar store version of Oliveira's. Awkward and weird angles, deceptively powerful, but very obvious defensive issues that are there to be exploited. This dude couldn't even put away ancient Ferguson on the feet. Now he has improved a bit since then but he's got chasms to cover before he belongs in there with Topuira.

I'll tell you what kiddo, how about if this fight happens and Paddy wins I'll give you a very nice "I told you so" and if Ilia wins, well then we can both celebrate and be happy considering I want him to win this fight.

I'll tell you how, he's got a very awkward and unpredictable striking style with lots of kicks and strikes from the outside and it's very hard to time offense against him. That's how he uses striking to set up his TD's. And he's very good at getting inside and creating clinches, body locks, single legs, and using his size to bring the fight on the mat. Look how effective it was vs Chandler. Furthermore, he's got size on Topuira, he's gonna be around 180 fight night while Ilia will come in around 165-168. So he's gonna use size to his advantage to get the fight down and from top position.

Oliveira cancelled his fight with Islam, did he get another title fight? No he fought Armen and lost. Khabib missed weight, was his next fight a title fight? No he had to fight Micheal Johnson.
