I used to hate paddy but for some reason I want to see him get the fight. It would be nice to have a little star power vs star power main event. We dont really get many of those anymore

does paddy have star power? I mean he is popular in England but does he draw an international crowd? I dont know the numbers so maybe I'm wrong for doubting it but I think Paddy winning the title could catapult him but right now I'm not so sure if he is a draw. Not that it matters imo, he has a win streak and is 1 of the fighters to make an argument for to fight for the belt......but I just dont see him being a star already. 1 loss and he could fade away

I dont mind it tbh. Its maybe the biggest fight the UFC can realistically make right now. Paddy isnt really deserving of the shot but he is a pretty big star and will get his shit pushed in with ease anyway, better for it to be in a title fight with a guy he has a history with rather than in a much smaller fight.

Why wouldn’t Gaethje fight Topuria? All he wants is the title fight.

It's not about what he wants.

1. Gaethje at this point of his career makes for a decent co main partner, or a good feed to some rising star (whoever it will be).

2. Topuria can get a much better (and safer) PPV draw.

3. Not saying Gaethje is a favourite against Topuria, but Ilia was already knocked out by Jai Herbert head kick in a parrallel universe. You never know what can happen for him with Justin. He or the UFC can't afford the consequence.

Paddy would make sense to do before Arman, because they can maximise the hype if Ilia is still champ. Doing Arman vs Ilia first they'll risk Ilia losing and then Paddy vs Ilia not being a title fight.
