If you're Anthony Smith what is your gameplan?

high paced pressure and stay within boxing range the entire time, not anything closer and never in kicking range or anything farther than that.
but dont overextend, risking and missing and entering the clinch or getting shot on.
he'll need very good footwork to maintain this midrange however.

If Smith can force a midrange fight without getting taken down, then it is essentially a boxing match with Jones backing up. Jones will either want to back up or move forward from midrange because that's Jones weakest area because his boxing is garbage. If he goes forward, that multiplies the force of Smiths punches if theyre accurate, this is why I think Jones will back up to get it back to kicking range.

Gus wasnt able to do it, but I think thats because Gus actually wanted a long range fight for some reason.
If Lionheart lives up to his nickname, I think he'll have the balls to follow this gameplan.

My thoughts exactly..except i believe he cant let jones lead the exchanges..even at mid range he needs to be firing first or at the same time with jones..

D.C showed if you trade with jones hes hittable and with smiths power i can see him connecting hard enough to drop jones..the combo he used on shogun could work well against jones ..if he can cut off the cage using angles and dont chase jones like gus did that was gus's mistake the in the second fight..he just trudge forward chasing jones taking alot of kicking damage and when he started to adjust to the kicks jones took him down..Smith has to fight smart and powerful..

Jones has alot of tools and physical advantages at his disposal but Smith is dangerous..anyone doubting this could be left surprised after the fight

His game plan should be

Respectful
Nice
Dick ride JBJ alot

Take a soft loss and get paid

And thank JJ for going easy on him then try and be sparring partners and learn from him. And get better all around.

Lose without being embarrassed too much.

Make it an ugly fight, and hope to win a boring split decision. All the way in or all the way out. Standing and striking in Jon’s range is a death sentence. Not that fighting a clinch game is much better. At least you can make it ugly.

Go for broke straight outta the gate. No other way.
I agree. Don’t let him feel you out, don’t give him space to get comfortable. Sprint across the octagon take one step back when you get to him, then move forward again and go for broke immediately.

Best thing to do is what Chael did too Jon... Get his toe broken/torn to the point where the fight gets called off.

But, the fact is, keep the pressure on Jon, cut him off and avoid the elbows, pin Jon to the cage and keep it clinched as often as possible. You don't want Jon to control the cage. O and use a specific leg checks, it was the one that Weidman used vs Anderson 2.

Just go out swinging and go for broke. He's going to get picked apart and stopped anyway why not just say fuck it and give you're best instead of having your knee jacked up with that front kick that jon likes to do and/or getting your eye poked.

Jones doesn't have a lot of power. He's got to tuck his chin, grit his teeth, and throw everything at him in the first before getting worn down. Honestly though, jones probably clinches then and ragdolls him.

run around the cage for 5rds so he can say he survived against the goat
seriously i'd be amazed if Smith can last more than 2 rds, the dude is better literally nowhere

He needs to not shower a few weeks out and TKO him via stink.

Cheat blatantly and pressure the ref to stop it. That ensures another payday if so.

No Walker is crap. He's a solid athlete but his striking is wild and his chin sucks there's a reason he almost got KO'd 4 times in 18 seconds vs a can crusher. He literally just beat two of the worst guys in the division now you want to say he's a problem for Jones? I mean I'm lmao cause he even looks awful in one of the highlight video when he ate a flush overhand and getting easily double legged.

Cute GIF. Your hero sucks and ducked Rumble. He'll most likely retire to not face Walker.
