If you're Anthony Smith what is your gameplan?

Pick up the paycheck go home and play some games

He should strap weights all over his body and wear em for 2 weeks, then take em off the morning of the fight and move like a ninja

Smith isn't gonna beat Jones in a technical bout, but he could centainly go apeshit and potentially land a shot or two. Bite down and throw fast and heavy right off the bell.

1) Hit him in the balls
2) Grab a chair and create distance
3) Stab him in the liver
4) Banga da danga da dang

just do whatever he's been doing lately and see how it goes. there isn't a secret gameplan to beat jones other than hope the ref sees and calls 12/6 elbows.

Flying scissor heel hook, Jones will never see that one coming.

Everyone tries to KO Jones with strikes and fails badly, but Vitor almost pulled off a surprise armbar sub.

high paced pressure and stay within boxing range the entire time, not anything closer and never in kicking range or anything farther than that.
but dont overextend, risking and missing and entering the clinch or getting shot on.
he'll need very good footwork to maintain this midrange however.

If Smith can force a midrange fight without getting taken down, then it is essentially a boxing match with Jones backing up. Jones will either want to back up or move forward from midrange because that's Jones weakest area because his boxing is garbage. If he goes forward, that multiplies the force of Smiths punches if theyre accurate, this is why I think Jones will back up to get it back to kicking range.

Gus wasnt able to do it, but I think thats because Gus actually wanted a long range fight for some reason.
If Lionheart lives up to his nickname, I think he'll have the balls to follow this gameplan.

Jon Jones boxing is improving very fast. His footwork is improving. He got his punching power back that he forget for years. Jon Jones is stepping into his prime and his weak spots are getting smaller and smaller.

Jon Jones clinch and ground game is superior. His stand up is great and the only way to beat him is to step into his range but the problem is Jon Jones is the master at controlling the range and distance. It's like his weakness has layers of shield that you have to break through.

I agree with what some have said earlier. Bull rush him, don't let him get his distance and timing figured out. Don't get taken down in the process though, because your face will be elbowed off.

Stay in boxing range, not kicking range, and not elbow range. Jones has an 8 inch reach advantage over Smith I think (76 to 84 right) but only one inch of height. Crowd him and back him up against the cage with your boxing, don't let him circle away. Cut him off, angles, good footwork and just stay aggressive. Maybe Jones isn't as good when backing away the whole fight...

Or maybe he should just bring a baseball bat with him, that'd be easier.

Fight dirty as hell and crowd jones. Eye pokes, low blows, etc.

agreed. he has many layers, and his weakest layer is the boxing range.
the way to get through the layers is with pressure. He should ignore the threat of Jones boxing range imo, otherwise the fear of Jones non existent boxing skills will just force smith to stay within kicking range where he has zero chance.
Jones footwork has gotten better yes. his punches are still meh.
I believe smith would win a boxing match against Jones to be honest.

Be very, very aggressive. What do you have to lose? Obviously Smith can win the fight, but on paper Pico Cheat Fuck Jones is the better pick. His intention should be to finish the fight in the first round. As soon as the bell ring he should act like he just rocked Jones. If it works it works, it it doesnt it doesnt.

His game plan is go in there, get picked apart at range, dropped, then get subbed

I use my superior heart and technique to beat the breaks off of Johnny Picograms
