If you only like stand up battles, are you an MMA fan?

Is Dana an MMA fan?

Imo a great stand up battle is more exciting than a great ground battle

But a great ground battle is more exciting than a boring stand up battle (and I believe there is more of the boring stand up than boring ground fights in the ufc).

Bryan Callen is gonna help Dana, Serra and Nick the Tooth out doing stand-up. I think it will turn out great.
They should've brought Joey Diaz along as well.

And yes, Dana is a fan of MMA.

I like stand up more than I like most forms of grappling, but I still like grappling.

i think dana just likes seeing fights being finished.

I only like it when people hurt each other for money.

Sure. I have a preferential leaning toward stand up, but I enjoy the ground game. But if a person hates 100% of the ground game....are they not really a fan?

I only like back and forth grappling matches with sweeps and submission attempts. One sided dominations aren't too fun, unless clean gnp is being dished out. Keeping position (ie, body triangle plus "attempts" at getting a choke) and throwing lame punches to "score"... yawn.

I agree with you.

And honestly idk. I know some people who are like what you described and then I show them boxing or kickboxing and they think those are boring too.

So I'd say in a weird way they are fans of ufc, but maybe not mma.

Age old topic, but viable. I too find it absurd that many so-called MMA fans wish only to witness stand-up exclusively. The few occasions we receive a great grappling bout, they snivel on these boards like toddlers. I'm not sure why they don't do us all a favor and switch their viewership to boxing or kickboxing. I guess we can hope...

I tend to David stand up too, but I enjoy the rest. So yes

IMO if somedoby HATES ground game and you are booing every time a fighter goes for the takedown, he should watch KB or MT and GTFO

I like both.

- If (I) only appreciated striking, then no I would not be a fan of MMA. I find numerous other combat sports far better for striking techniques that MMA!

I think Dana may be a fan of MMA.

Nobody that watch MMA only like standup, but most prefer it, because MMA don't punish stalling on the ground, And we see a lot of it.

In bjj or even wrestling, stalling is punished, while In MMA sometimes they reward it.

I prefer stand up over ground game every day however I find boxing and kick boxing really boring.

I like fights.....lay & pray, wall & stall not so much.

I prefer stand up battles but I don't like to think any fighter is inhibited in any way. It's good to know that someone can get taken down at any time, and seeing someone get ko'd because they kept their hands low in anticipation of a td is all the more sweeter.

I like a mix, especially when fighter is a threat to end it at anytime.

I can't stand grapplers who think they are fighters but hit at the ground as soon as round starts.

I prefer stand up but love the extra aspect the threat of grappling gives to mma striking.
