He's clearly a solidly top 10 talent, but lacks a signature win. Sean needed to make a point beating Cannonier to move into the upper echelon.

I think its likely he eventually works his way to a title shot considering its a relatively thin division.

Cannonier beat Strickland last December, and has a higher claim to get another title shot over Strickland. Strickland needs to fight at least two more times against legitimate top ten MW's to be in the mix.

Dricus/Whittaker should get the next title shot, and then possibly Cannonier/Khamzat (a fight rumoured for Abu Dhabi) after that. Strickland's last fight before yesterday, was a short notice fight at LHW. A win against Magomedov (not even in the MW rankings) should not mean a MW title shot.

I don’t think you understand the difference between fact and “fake news” as you put it. I stated facts. You stated your opinions.

Sean is 2-2 in his last 4 fights.

Neither of Sean’s last 2 wins were against ranked opponents.

Sean has never beaten any of the Top 5 fighters at MW. (He Lost to Jared it isn’t a debate Jared’s hand was raised)


The majority of media scores also had it for Jared. Was it a close fight? Yes it was. Did Jared win? Yes he did.



…look it’s ok to be a Sean fan he’s a very good fighter but I stated my opinion which is that to get a TS in any division you should have more than a 2 win streak and at LEAST 1 top 5 win. Even that is a relatively low bar for title shots. Handing out a TS for any fighter coming off 2 unranked wins following 2 losses is ridiculous beyond belief.
