Sean's exciting because he takes risks - big risks - in terms of his approach to fights (see, Pereira), but also in terms of rankings (Imavov, Abus) - you can like his fights or hate them, but you won't see many top-ranked fighters competing against anyone outside the top 10, particularly if the fighter looks to be dangerous.

Sean was the underdog against Imavov, as far as I can tell, which seems kinda silly now.

But for me, a guy that plays the slow game and could get murdered at any moment when fighting a monster brings a very real peril to fights.

So yeah.

He's exciting. Maybe unintentionally, but exciting nonetheless.
 
I'd watch (A free stream)but don't see him winning.

Agree. Shouldn't get a title shot over others at this point, but would love to see him get a belt. He's piss funny. Doubt he'll get a title win. Seems like he isn't overall skilled. More gaps in his game than....

Rob is obviously most deserving so yes I’m personally fine with that. I honestly wanted Alex (your most hated) Perreira to get an immediate trilogy fight. Any of the 5 or so MW’s in the division that are better fighters than Sean is deserve the shot more without Sean getting a win over literally any of the people ahead of him in the rankings.

I get it serves your personal self interests (as an Izzy maximalist) considering Izzy would likely just make a HL reel out of a Strickland matchup and further solidify his already incredible legacy. Izzy is probably going to seek a Hill fight though since stylistically it is his best shot at LHW gold…and if the stars align and he and Alex both win that sets up a 2024 mega fight at LHW that I am sure the UFC would fucking love to make happen.

Back to Sean though I want to see any fighter in any division have to get at VERY LEAST one top 5 win under their belt by the time they get a shot at UFC gold. It adds to the legitimacy of the sport we all love.
 
The last thing anybody wants to see is Rob getting another shot

Izzy cleared out MW there is no doubt about it. I personally would love to see him move up vs Hill asap. It will give MW time to percolate some more. If Izzy beats Hill and was to defend once it would be a solid year or so before he came back down to MW. The division would look substantially different by then I would imagine. Rob/Costa/Vett/Can/Strickland/DDP (maybe Chimaev) maybe Bo gets a few more big wins maybe a new star rises we haven’t discovered yet or isn’t signed. The landscape could look completely different in a years time and all of a sudden a breath of fresh air ignites. That is the only path I see for MW right now because to be honest with you, aside from Alex I don’t see a soul at MW that I would have any confidence would give Izzy any trouble right now. Especially Strickland the guy has nothing for a striker of Izzy’s pedigree and his wrestling is nowhere good enough to assert a grappling heavy gameplan. He would get styled on and finished in epic fashion. Then the division stays in this weird stagnant spot for the foreseeable future. At least Izzy moving up lets a new contender emerge and creates a cool new arc and hype.

Also if it doesn't happen I'm guessing it'd because of Izzy ducking( although I don't think that'll happen because honestly Izzy smokes him basically any day of the week). The UFC knows what appeals to their American fan base (their main fan base), they've been pushing Strickland and will continue to do so and they are definitely aware of how juicy a build up to Izzy vs Strickland would be.

I will admit though even though his gimmick dosnt jive with me, I'd enjoy the build to Strickland vs Izzy too. Some real beef .

Mel Gibson said something stupid 17 years ago and has apologized for it multiple times.

The UFC is very politically correct. They push Izzy hard because of his sexuality and they also did spots for Black History Month and the like.
