Was this the last true just bleed rock em sock em fight?

Lol no one will give Ping any credit. It was only 3 years after Wand beat him and right after he had KTFO Rich Franklin. lol
Man, Bisping gets nothing but credit around here, at least until after he retired. Speaking of old Wand, Bisping couldn't beat him, but Rich beat Wand twice.

and Cung beat Rich then Ping beat Cung! MMAMath is fun.

I still sometimes wonder what would have happened if Rich got the nod against Hendo in that razor close fight. The winner was set to coach against Ping on TUF 9! So imagine how different history would be if the Judges had given Rich the split decision. There would be no HBomb! I think Rich would have beat Ping through but it would have been closer than Hendo vs Ping. imho 🤔

We just saw a crazy one this month...

First thought when I read the title. Casual fans don't watch the fights and assume only old fights are good. Every card has at least one banger on it. Dc was talking about this fight 2 fights later lol

I mean I can appreciate the defensive and technical aspect as much as the next guy, but at the end of the day it's fights like these that echo through history.

I feel like this was the last fight where two high profile fighters just went in there, both bit down on their mouthpiece and said "fuck it, I know I'm gonna get hit but I'm gonna try to hit you even harder".

I know there have been a few moments like this here and there, but to just go balls out from the opening bell and keep it up for 9 minutes until one guy dropped is unheard of these days.

So you missed Rory vs Robbie 2 at UFC 189 right?

I never said there were no epic wars since, but even Robbie vs Rory still for the most part looked like a mixed martial arts fight, there was at least some intent to defend strikes and use some different techniques.

Silva vs Stann was something more resembling Frye vs Takyama, they literally just traded bombs until one guy fell.
