If repeated subconcussions cause CTE brain damage= all fighters good chins are screwed!!

There are a lot of petty and nasty individuals on this site. Do you people not know how to have a differrence of opinion without attacking a random person online?

I does make sense that boxers and football players get cte the most.

I'm in the middle of participating in a concussion study. I've had several diagnosed throughout my life. Protect your dome boys and girls

Short term memory loss, left brain/right brain conflict, migraines..........hopefully that's the extent of it for me but unlikely

Apart from those 3 brutal KOs, Chuck didn't take too much damage over his career. Got out of the game just in time, IMO.
I think your memory serves you wrong. Chuck took plenty of damaga before in his fights, only then his chin and recovery kept him going. In the end it failed and he got flatlined. I remember his Pride fights better than UFC and he got beat the fuck up in all 3 before coming back (well except against Rampage who brutalized him until the ref saved us from witnessing murder..)

I love how people act like this is new knowledge. We have known about the brain damage from combat sports for some time. We knew people who took more damage were more susceptible to the long term effects.

It used to be called being "punch drunk" and was considered an associated risk of competing in unarmed human gladiatorial combat.

Some were even less fortunate and died in the ring or suffered severe brain injury like Gerald McClellan.

Getting "rocked" is literally brain damage, it is your brain pinballing around in your skull. Obviously it is not good for you but as free adults fighters have the option of competing with such high stakes.

If people think they can deny the right of fighters or other athletes to destroy their brain they should illegalize heavy drinking or unhealthy diets first, they effect far more people.

I hope Roy ends up OK. I think he holds the record for number of shots to the head in HW history by a wide margin.

Hendo has record of most knockdowns/drops. And so many fighs his head gets slammed around but he is still conscious. You know the stuff that is not good for your brain.

Then it means all fighters with good chins who made career out getting hit and taking it are screwed.

They will most certainly NOT be ok. Subconcussive= if you spar you will get CTE. There's no way around that. That's not to say that it will be as severe as someone who spars, fights, takes a bunch of damage on top of it. But sparring is enough to cause CTE.
