If NFL is A level athleticism

Here is Freddie Roach's own words on video about punching power. & I don't need insults.

"They say punchers are born and not made, I believe that is true" - Freddie Roach

"But I do believe you can improve on your punching with accuracy, (Referring to "The Button aka the chin and nerve endings")

Like I said, you don't know how punching power works.

Now be quiet about punching power, you don't know what you are talking about.

Except what he said was “I do believe that to be true, but you can improve on your punching”.

Simple question son...

Population 1 is 100 professional boxers.
Population 2 is 100 average dudes.

Which population hits harder, on average?

Sprint speed can be improved.
Vertical jump can be improved.
Squat can be improved.
Bench can be improved.
Kicking power can be improved.
Grip strength can be improved.
Horizontal jump can be improved.
Distance running can be improved.

punching power is not some sort of exception to the rule. As someone with 40+ amateur boxing bouts to his name, I can categorically state that I didn’t hit as hard when I walked in the gym as I did in my prime.

And you still owe me an answer son...

Freddie Said,

"I do believe that to be true" referring to the question "are punchers born?"

"but you can improve your punching with ACCURACY" Not by increasing punching power. But ACCURACY aiming for the chin "The button."

Here. Watch the video again, you still haven't learned anything.

I'd pay good money to see Conor, or any fighter, line up in an NFL game at the slot position to run a cross route. His little 155lb ass would get wrecked by a cb...let alone a safety or linebacker.

Quit dodging the question son....why is it so hard to express your opinion on this topic? You’re such a little bitch <45>

Let assume he did say what you’re saying he did. I’ve provided you with a contradictory quote from the exact same person. My quote is also more recent (taken from just before the Pacquiao vs Clottey fight) so we’ll assume that’s his current opinion:

“You just have to really set up more than the power punch. You have the combinations and learn how to sit down on the power shot”. Freddie Roach

“Punching power can’t be developed”
Random Sherdog retard @Takamine86

Little lesson for you son,
https://boxingscience.co.uk/science-behind-punch/

“If you have good technique, you can improve your punch power through training the physical contributors to a punch and his is what we will share in this article.

With this in mind, many people think that having supreme punching power is down to genes, it was ‘god-given power’.

Many physiological characteristics are due to genetics, but these can also be trained. Improving strength, speed and explosiveness through evidence-based strength and conditioning can help power up your punch.”

Sorry son, I had to do it. My pimp hand was forced. <45>

??? And what would that tell us? Put them in a cage and they get killed.

Who’d have thought a dude who’s never played a sport in his life would suck at it?

You simply don't know what you're talking about. You aren't worth debating. You use Freddie Roach as a reference to say Power can be taught. I post video evidence of Freddie Roach literally saying, "Punchers are born, not made," and you still continue to argue against Freddie Roach to say power can be taught. I'm done with you man. You go argue with Freddie Roach about punching power. LMAO

Watch the video again, this is the guy you referenced telling you you're wrong.

I'll take Freddie Roaches' boxing experience over your 40 + imaginary amateur bouts.

I don't know the reference of your quote, so I don't know the context of it. I provided video evidence of Freddie Roach actually saying "Punchers are born not made, I believe that is true"

& you are saying lets assume he did say it. HE LITERALLY SAID IT! IT IS ON VIDEO!

Sorry, I'm just not going to have a debate with someone like you, it is a complete waste of time & I only wished I realized it sooner.

There are many factors in punching powers, and some of them can be taught.

At the highest level, everyone has learned all that can be learned so the most powerful punchers are the ones who have on top of that some physical predispositions and a fighting style that allows powerful strikes.
That's what Freddy roaches means by "punchers are born, not made". It doesn't mean that punching power can't be taught, it has to be taught.

You really don't understand much about punching power. Its laughable that you think punching power is taught. Why don't all boxers and mma fighters have punching power genius? According to you, they just haven't been taught yet. Go to any MMA gym or Boxing gym and ask them about teaching punching power and speed.
Greg Hardy is, according to the A level athlete theory, the most powerful HW in the UFC. And his punches suck, they couldn't put down Allen Crowder, Sosoli or Volkov.
Yet, much less powerful guys like Stipe, JdS or Rozenstruik all hit way harder.

I don’t consider this a ‘debate’ son <45> I’m merely beating down a little bitch.

As I said, I’ve provided you with a more recent quote from Freddie Roach. It can be found below and he stated, not only that punching power can be improved, but also how to improve it.

“You just have to really set up more than the power punch. You have the combinations and learn how to sit down on the power shot.”

I love the fact you find the idea
of someone saying they’ve had 40+ amateur bouts unbelievable. <45> What must really blow your mind is the idea that those 40 don’t include my bouts in the youths or cadets. If you genuinely believe that when someone walks into a boxing gym on day 1 they are going to hit as hard as they ever will, then not only have you never set foot in a fight gym, you’re also an utter retard. A cuckold retard at that.

You’ve repeatedly ignored my questions and failed to live up to your word that you would provide an answer. I’ll accept that white flag as a concession of your defeat. Bring me your mother/girlfriend (I’m sure they’re the same thing) for my pleasure by lunch time and I’ll show mercy on you, cuck.

Absolutely agree with this btw.

I should clarify that every physical activity, punching included, has a degree of ‘born not made’. If you’re expecting to be able to take the average bloke of the streets and teach him how to hit like Tyson with enough practice, you’ve very likely going to be disappointed.

My position is that punching power can be improved, and as you’ve said, it absolutely can. The notion that you walk into a boxing gym on day 1 and hit as hard as you ever will is unbearably stupid.

Where does Freddie say that video that you can teach punching power. <Lmaoo>

Give it up. This is what Freddie Said about Punching power.

I got you saying "little bitch" "cuckhold," "retard," bringing up mother/girlfriend. Throwing out insults <Lmaoo>. Y U mad tho? Remember, when you have to resort to insults, you lost the argument. ;)

I'm done with you man. If you won't listen to Freddie Roach about boxing, there is no hope for you.

C’mon cuck, answer the questions I’ve assigned to you or wave that white flag

I’ve given you a quote from Roach that’s comes after that video was taken, that video is therefore an opinion he no longer holds. You’ve also had ‘born not made’ explained to you by other posters.

“You just have to really set up more than the power punch. You have the combinations and learn how to sit down on the power shot.” Freddie Roach

Key word is “learn” lad.

PS I’m still expecting your mother/sister to be with me before lunch. If you promise to respond here publicly, I might even let you watch

I cannot believe how many views and comments this thread has.

Real football pays more at the top end, and the pool of players it pays highly is much deeper than basketballers globally.
it pays more at the top end in part because the nba has a salary cap and max contracts. the nba average pay is double the highest soccer league.

frankly it's a rather pointless debate at this point. the nba pays the most, by far. if you've got talent for either sport, play the one you're better in. most make the decision based on culture more than any other factor. more will be pushed to basketball based on physical attributes.

I agree with everything you’ve said there, with the exception of the NBA paying the most. As a league it pays the most, but as a sport real football pays more than basketball. Comparing the NBA to real football is a bit like comparing the UFC to boxing, rather than MMA to boxing.

@kflo I made this post a few pages back and think it’s relevant to your last past. I absolutely agree though that kids don’t sit there thinking about which sport to play based on a very speculative assumption of them making it to the top. Interest, peer pressure, family ties, ability etc all ply a bigger part.

The average salary in the NBA is higher than any other sporting league. The NBA has 30 teams of 15 players giving you a full player roster on 450. These players earn on average $7.7m per annum. The next tier, the G-League sees players earn a pitiful $35,000 per season.

For comparison, the English Premier League has 20 teams each with a squad size of 25 players, giving a full roster of 500, with an average salary of $3.9m. Each of these 20 teams also has under 19, under 21, or in some cases under 23 teams - all of which will contain players paid on average significantly more than the $35k per season received by G-League players. To give you an idea for how much the players on these youth teams might pay, Martin Odegard signed a contract with Real Madrid for £80,000 per week at the age of 16.

The second tier of English football, the Championship, contains 24 teams each with a squad of 25, giving a full roster of 600, with an average salary of $1.7m per season. There are two more professional tiers below this.

This is in England alone (not even the whole UK) and doesn’t begin to consider the money on offer in Spain, Italy, France, Germany, USA, China or the UAE.
