If NFL is A level athleticism

tennis and boxing are not "accessible" to most kids growing up. there is generally a high cost of entry in tennis.

Really? In what way? Seems to me that you need a racket, some tennis balls, and a court to get it going. The fact that Venus and Serena came from a lower middle class family in Compton makes me think that it's more a lack of interest in tennis that keeps people away as opposed to any significant entry-level financial cost. The elite training you require as you progress is true of damn near every sport.

Now hockey, on the other hand.... THAT has a high cost of entry!

And buddy went on to do 3/4's of nothing in pro football. These athletic tests don't mean a thing if the player doesn't "get" the sport. Impressive to look at, though. REALLY impressive.

He's not that bad really. The problem was he Cowboys had him splitting time at safety his rookie season then playing the next 2 years at safety. He made the probowl in 2018 when they put him at corner, which is a tough position. I wouldn't say making the probowl means you did nothing.

Ok, I'm out for real, later.

I noticed he still hasn't commented on the state of U.S. Women's Soccer on the global scale.

The world cares about MALE football. The female world cup was created only in 1991 and the US won the first one. Germany has won 2 of those and I've never seen them counting them when talking about World Cups won. That's how irrelevant it is. I can't even name players from the national team here

The U.S. won 4 of them. They won the last two.

It's ok if you can't name anybody from the German team. You're not the only one. Most people worldwide can't name a German athlete in general.

Yeah, I know and no one cares about it... Just look at the revenue of women's soccer...
Germany has 2 and literally no one says "Germany has 6 world cups". It's only the US forcing this women's world cup thing
Japan has one and they won it in 2011. Can you imagine Japan winning a men's world cup? Not in a 100 years

Nobody is forcing anything. I just asked a question to another user and you're saying the U.S. is forcing women's world cup thing. lol

Sorry, outside of Dirk Nowitzki and Dennis Siver, I don't know a single German athlete. Most people don't. But congrats to Germany's for 6 world cups.

I'm not German but most people in the US maybe. Outside of the US people will be able to recognize names like Thomas Müller, Kroos, Neuer, Michael Schumacher, Sebastian Vettel, etc...

What a strange thing to say. Is there a point to this?

What? you kept telling me that most people worldwide can't name German athletes

All these countries in green will probably know German athletes from football and be able to name players from their national team or recognize them from big teams like Kroos who plays for Real Madrid. I was referring to the women's national team of my country though. I don't even know who plays in the women's national team of my own country.

Anaerobic vs aerobic athleticism. Greg Hardy ain’t running no marathons

That wasn't the weird part. But anyways, I'm sure there are people out there in the world that can name German athletes even in the U.S.

Germans have great athletes just like everyone else even if they aren't as popular as names like Ronaldo, Messi, and Beckham.

This is blatantly false.

For most of the world, outside of Lebron James, a number of German national team players would be more recognisable than a lot of the NBA’s top stars.

In terms of instagram followers:
Lebron - 54.7m
Stephen Curry - 28.2m
Kevin Durant - 11.7m
James Harden - 11.2m
Giannis Antetokounmpo - 6.8m

A couple of German real footballers:
Mesut Ozil - 21.6m
Toni Kroos - 22.8m

In terms of global recognition, the only basketballers in history I would say are comfortably more recognisable than these two footballers are Jordan, Shaq and James.

It’s fact. NBA pays a lot more. And soccer has more CTE. Sorry that is hard to digest.

Real football pays more at the top end, and the pool of players it pays highly is much deeper than basketballers globally.

In Boxing, the the top end (Floyd Mayweather) gets paid more. See how that works?

It doesn't really work like that. Twitter Follower doesn't represent every person who actually knows the athlete. It just represents twitter followers. Plenty of fans who know all athletes don't follow them on twitter. A more popular well known athlete can have less twitter followers.

Floyd Mayweather 7.9 million
Manny Pacquiao 2.6 million
Usain Bolt 4.9 million

Like I said, I'm sure the German soccer players are both great athletes. But most people in the U.S. probably don't know who they are unless they are soccer fans. That is different from the popularity of someone like Ronaldo, Beckham, Jordan, Lebron, Usain Bolt, Ali, Mayweather, Pacquiao, etc. where you don't even need to be a fan of the sport to know who they are.

Em.....no?

Like I said. Real football doesn’t only pay more at the top end, the combined salary is much greater.

Oh, if you’re simply suggesting that Americans are ignorant towards non-US athletes and athletes from non-US domiciled sports, then I fully agree.

In the same vein as most Americans being unable to name a single real footballer from
America, most of the world could only recognise a handful of basketball players throughout the entire history of the sport. Since you’re speaking from your own personal experience, I can confidently say that if Lebron James bumped into me in the street, I would have no idea who he was. I would recognise Jordan (mainly from the film Space Jam) and Shaq though.

Glad we both agree that twitter followers argument wasn't a very good one.
