I already did the math for you mate. Its 3.05m - 22cm for the soccerball. Thats still 2.87m. Minus Ronaldos height, which is 1.87 m, thats exactly 1m =40inches. Even if we consideren the grossbar you would at max take half the 6inch diameter, but most of the times, the 10 feet is from the ground to the bottom of the crossbar. So you dont consider the crossbar. So if we dont consider the crossbar, Ronaldo jumped 40 inches, if we consider half the crossbar he jumped 35 inches, and if we consider it fully (which is wrong) he would jump 32 inches as you v said. But again this is ONLY, if we assume he only scratched the buttom of the ball. Which he didnt. He made solid contact. So you would have to add another 2-3 inches on top of that.
See?
The 10 Feet is from the ground to the lowest point of the crossbar. And from the lowest point of the crossbar to the highest point of the Fieldgoal you meassure the 20 feet of height, totalling up to 30 feet overall.
So you dont have to subtract anything from the 10 feet apart from the ball.
You dont have to substract any string aswell, cause as you can clearly see in the pic, the ball is touching the bar.

See? If we are being honest we would have to subtract at max 2/3s of the ball, since he is almost touching the ball at the centre.
So in conclusion as it stand its the full 3.05m=10feet (you dont subtract anything from the bar) - 2/3rds of the ball since Ronaldo is making solid contact. So thats 14.5 cm=5,5 inches. Thats about 2.9m Which makes this jump higher than 40 inches.
