If more fighters do what Tom did, the UFC might actually crack down on fouls.

I never said they were good at their jobs but it is supposed to be their job. Fighters calling their own fouls just leads to them faking it when they're losing.

But how do you tell if a fighter is simply mistaken that it was a foul because it felt like a finger in the eye? That's not the same as faking it. That's why it's up to the refs to make the call not the fighters.

Again, if in soccer a player shouts FOUL but the ref saw it was legal, he just signals for the game to continue. Same should be done in MMA.

First off, it isn't the UFC who makes the call on the foul or what happens after the foul.

The AC's in general should clean up the rules that a foul is a foul. Not one time the foul is warning, another time it is DQ, sometime it is a point lost and other times not, foul results in a lost, foul results in a no contest, etc etc. That is the real issue at hand.

Remember the back of the head elbow Gane knocked out JDS with? How about the shots to the back of the head to Tai? You throw in constant eye pokes and it makes it hard to fathom that Gane isn't fouling all the time on purpose.
