If Jamahal loses...

Bro....

It wasn't long ago on here people would try to convince us that hills "straight punches" would be Alex's undoing and that he had the best hands at lhw. Also he was a "stylistic nightmare" for jiri when it was arguably jiris easiest fight in his UFC career thus far. MMA fans as a whole are stupid and only think a fighter is good if they hold a title.

Look at aljo broke the UFC bw defense record, who calls him the goat? No one
What does have Aljo has to do with anything?

Aljo not being in the BW Goat conversation has more to do with 2 things:
* Merab being the clear BW GOAT
* Cruz being overrated

because we can look past records and and things like being champion and see context

looking back, it wasnt the best anology

It's pretty hard to get cut as a former champ.

He will still make 200k+ thru at least 4-5 Ls

Cody Necktats went 1-5 after his title run. Currently 3-7 since being champ. Still here 8.5 years post champ run. $275k show money for Saturday loss to unranked opponent.

As long as he accepts fights at least 1-2x a year and wins roughly 17-25% of the time or more, he will have a job and get paid like a Doctor for a long time.

I don't think he gets cut on a three skid. especially when two of those were champs/former champs.

he wont be cut for a while

the issue is that he is technically a 'former champion' so will use that for his contract negotiation. If he loses this one they they'll put him on a ppv opener, then prelims... then if he's still losing they'll cut him

Reyes didn't even get a belt and went on a 4 fight skid. now he's won 3 in a row
Garbrandt has lost a ton of fights since he had the belt too

Granted, those guys have a sort of cult following

Why would they cut him? Sure he is annoying twit, but they like those.

A self promoting (even if it is just people want him to be KOd) fighter, that is pretty much do or die always has a place in the UFC. Plus they can feed him to prospects (if we ever get any) and promote them as having a win over a UFC champ.

Hill is in a strange position in that he held the belt, but its only because Jiri had to vacate it.
once Hill and Jiri fought, its pretty clear what wouldve happened if they fought when Jiri had the belt.
i guess the UFC thought LHW was thin which is why they matched Hill vs Glover for the vacant title. and dont get me wrong, that was a good performance from Hill, but Glover had just lost the belt.

Not to mention Hill hasnt fought Ank, Rakic or Jan. He hasnt even fought Volkan, Ulberg or Reyes. fuckin hell he didnt even fight Anthony Smith, who was pretty much the de facto gatekeeper before Smith retired. he got a title shot when his last victory was Thiago Santos, who was released from the UFC after that fight.
he might have one of the thinnest resumes that a UFC former champ can lay claim to.
The fight was made simply because Jan and Ank fought to a draw. And it was made on impulse in about an hour. So Jamahal sort of won the lottery

I don't think it was an easy fight for Jiri, and it was a improved Jiri from before.

I didn't see him have much trouble there was no round for jamahal. maybe debatable that the ozdemir fight was the easiest. He had adversity with everyone else.
