Oh wait..

I think a black bond would sell like hotcakes.
Perfect opportunity IMO with white nationalism on the rise....will rustle lots of jimmies which will get media attention thus it will translate to sells.
Not to mention, that black culture is 100% admired in western nations by the mainstream so peoppe wouldnt mind seeing the black spin on bond.
I can see a cool/slick black bond that would captivate the audience and rustle racist.
I mean this thread gets like 50 pages and Im sure it will be the same all around the internet...thats a lot of free publicity
Neither was Roger Moore.
I guess he's best known as Stringer in The Wire. He's a suave mofo. He can play an unhinged badass as well though
How the fuck is this thread 19 pages lol

Cos good ol fashioned racism is alive and well in the 'berry that's why.
Did anyone give this much of a fuck when Tom Cruise was a goddamn samurai with the azn hairdo?
It's a fictional character. Isn't the story new everytime anyway? Like 0 continuity? I haven't watched any of these shitty movies in years
I hope he gets the part because he's a baddass actor but mainly just for the epic rustling of the jimmies... truly it will be a beautiful thing. <45>
Its about selling.and there we have it. its not even aboit the bond movies or black actors but rather about rustling jimmies.
Thats nice.James Bond is not real, he can be casted as a dog in the next movie it wouldn't fucking matter
Indeed, it is. It's unfortunate. Racism is quite clever in how it reinvents itself; even to perceive itself as the champion of its own destruction.Cos good ol fashioned racism is alive and well in the 'berry that's why.

Some threads start out great and other times they need time to grow like this one. If this thread is any indication of how people would react to a black bond, they should cast elba or another black guy in a heartbeat. 50 pages of talking Bond. Weve talked about bond more in this thread than anyone has talked about Bond in 10 years. Craig has gone stale imo, new bond would rejuvenate the franchise.
They tried this strategy with Solo, and it backfired tremendously; so tremendously, in fact, fortunately, that it killed all future spin-off Star Wars projects. Its about selling.
Rustling jimmies, is a great way to measure, if something is gonna sell or not.

Anything is flexible in theater given the right conditions. For example, if you were teaching a class in some African mission, and every kid was black, then I suspect every one of your school plays is going to have 100% black casting. That's not what this is.
For those who side with a partisan philosophy that seeks to simultaneously make the black identity sacred while demanding that none other is; the ice under their feet isn't thick. We know that race itself is perceived as something objective and unchangeable because when Rachel Doleaz "appropriates" the race of a black woman, when that isn't her true history or her innate condition, she is ostracized for the transgression. Cultural appropriation is a good within the sphere of theater, but "appropriation" is best applied by taking things, and possibly even reinventing them, but not changing them outright. You stitch together the American quilt from many truths, not from changing the face of someone's contributed square. This is why I mentioned XXX earlier. That character's original conceit was a "black Bond". We already stole the idea to make him black, American, and operating even more outside the boundaries of the law, and within the boundaries of vigilantism. That's fine. Changing Bond is not.
I thought about this quite a lot. One character who definitely shouldn't have a single race is Captain America. That is baked into the idea Captain America represents himself. I wouldn't even mind keeping the name "Steve Rogers" for all other incarnations, and "Bucky" being a black (or any race) friend. The idea is that Captain America could be any American story. Any American man or woman alive has the right to run for President unless he or she squanders that right. But that isn't how it is for most characters. They have a defined biography which includes a race. So this makes sense because you would be changing Captain American's origin story a bit each time to reflect the different experiences of different facets of American life.
But changing the race of Bond strikes me as akin to changing the race of Virgil Tibbs (played by Sydney Poitier) in The Heat of the Night, or perhaps more appropriately changing Blade to be white. It would be like making King Arthur black.
