Ians MT and PL log-2

MT
Spend the first hour literally doing nothing but working the floor to ceiling bag, getting head movement back.
Can't really throw hard shots because of the groin strain. Even extending the right hand pulls on it.

2nd hour was taking the class and dan on the pads.

Cardio again

40 minutes just getting HR to average 135

OHP- Had to clean the weight off the floor for all sets because peopel were shrugging in the squat rack.

8@40
3@60
[email protected] for 2 sets

None of it taking. I thought the clean would tire me out on the 67.5, but nope.

07 and 08 were taken up by sleeping, going to see the boys fight and then staying up until 6.30 on sunday night drinking.

08 I ended up not training because I had to spend 'quality time' with the gf. Fucks sake

Cardio - elliptical
45 minutes average HR at 144 (well, that was for 40 minutes, the warm up 5 I didn't have the monitor on).

I've decided after talking to paul to lower my conditioning work and do some boring LSD work to try and get my weight down to 78-79 kg.

edit- I'm about 87 at the moment.

10/02/2009

50 min on the spin bike, HR averaging 134.

Got thai tonight so that should be fun seeing as I still have a groin strain.

pm- 2 hour MT session

It involved 3 2 min burst rounds with 30 s rest for 2 sets. Hold, hit, hold, hit. Final round had 2-20, 20-2 punches. My arms aren't used to the workload let me tell you.
Then sparring/head movement work.

I still can't kick because of the strain and to make it worse I was trying to get the combos in on the pads with lots of head work, was missing far too many and got annoyed so...I.....umm....axe kicked the ring full force and hit the steel frame.

I have a slight limp today.

12/02/2009

At a conference for work. Got up at 6 and just did 25 burpees, 30 situps, 26 push ups and 30 BW squats.
Just really testing to see how the inner thigh is doing at the moment and for a extra bit of work (try and raise the GPP).

Cardio- pm.

1 hour of fitness on the elliptical machine. I have to perform a 1.5 timed run in 8 days now (21st) so I can't afford annoying the innver thigh more then it already is.
HR average was 155, however that included the warm up from rest. I know the last 25 or so minutes it was always around 160 and the last 10 it was creeping up from 162 to 170.

I think heavy fitness work is what leaves me so fucking tired the next day. I'm absolutely knackered today.
Muay thai leaves me feeling similar so maybe I have a work capacity issue. Time will tell.

'Cardio'

Stuck myself on a spin bike and watched drillbit taylor for 1 hour 20 min. Averaged HR was at 124bpm.

[email protected] mid point was a struggle
From then on I went to do 1@75, but couldn't get it off my chest, so ended up PPing it and struggled for lockout. Did it again for a negative of 75
Considering last week I managed 67.5 for a triple, it makes me wonder what my single actually is. Probably with work it would even out at 80. I have managed 62.5 for 8. Then again lifting isn't my main goal at the moment.

Cardio
45 minutes on the eliptical. HR was averaged at 145.

I jogged slightly to the gym and a bit back. That inner thigh is better but still something is niggling in there. I might be back to running in a couple of weeks. I hope it holds out on saturday, I have a TA selection thing and it involves a static lift and a timed 1.5 mile run after a 1.5 mile jog warm up. I might have to call it off, considering if you fail it (it's only 1.5 within 14 minutes, so pulling it I could still hobbile it) you most likely don't get another chance. But finishing it and getting a injury isn't looked well upon (if they find out you had the injury before attending).

It takes a while but you do. Annoyingly enough.

When I first started my current boring arse job, the first 2 weeks were a nightmare, I didn't have enough fat on my arse to make sitting down for 8 hours of a day comfortable.

Now it's fine...I have a fatass is all :(.

On a side note- sat was 80 minutes on that fucking bike. My cheeks were strained later on that day and the next.

yeh im doing 1 hour sessions every saturday at the mo and a more sprint-style cardio session on a tuesday or something like that.

I'm trying to pull more cardio sessions, however I still can't fucking run because of this groin strain. I have a 1.5 mile timed run this saturday, so when that's out of the way at some point very soon I'm going to get my runs started again.

Also, trying to get down to 78 kg is going to take a while....

MT
Got there about 20 minutes early and worked the floor to ceiling bag.
2 rounds shadow boxing.
Everyone paird up. Now I can't kick or clinch because of the strain, so I ended up pairing up with ed who is 82 kg, about 3 inches taller then me and quite solid. He has a hip injury.
4 3 min round just body boxing. After the first round I took out the double mouth guard.
1 round off (so 5 minutes with rest, 3 min, rest)
4 3 min rounds of full boxing.
I collapsed afterwards for a few rounds before doing some mucking about sparring.

Now what I have learnt from this:
My aerobic work isn't that bad, but needs a lot of work.
I need my shoulder endurance back. My combos were 3 slow hard shots at most, sintead of 6-7 fast snappy shots. This is a shoulder and endurance of the anaerobic system issue.
I need to start doing interval and sprint work more often, so when my strain if fixed I'll start doing runs until it's back to full strength and then I'll get back to my 400's.
I need to get skip rope a lot.
I need to buy some rubber shoes/insoles. I can't do any second phase work because I can't plant my feet afterwards.

Basically the skill is there and it had flashes yesterday (I don't think a single hook landed and I bobed and weaved when my legs could sustain it like a fucking champ, the rest of the time a chump). I also want to get down to 78. After sweating my arse off, I was at 85.5 last night.

edit- even shabba out paced me at the end. I mean wtf. I need to have wars with people again. If I had sparred chris or lyndon or olly I would probably have a broken nose.
Incentive now there.

edit2- I also today don't feel absolutely wasted. I think as long as I keep the heavy LSD work in there and continue to push it, I should be able to train more often. I didn't find the link between aerobic work and recovery previously, but it's quite evident now. I just need to pace myself and not rush like I usually do.

On a side note again- curry tomorrow and out with the boys saturday evening after a thai take out.

Good job I get paid in 7 days. I have 30 quid left.

I feel like you Ian, I need to get my cardio and endurance back upto par. And lose about 5kg of pure fat I've put on when my diet went to shit the last couple months. >_>

ps: I do NOT know how you can sit on a spin bike for that long man... 120 minutes sometimes? fuck that. I get on and do a tabata session and then finish off with some LSD, fuck 120 minutes. I would be so bored.

80 minutes is the most mate thus far.

I'm going to be doing longer LSD for a little while to get my volume up, then I can start taking a few out to put in HIIT and tabata work. Because I'm so out of condition, starting back into HIIT work I get carried away and end up doing too much, bodys not used to it and I feel completely wasted the next day.

I had a hard day yesterday (collapsed) and although I feel slightly worn out, I don't feel wasted, which can't be a bad thing. I'm doing a LSD session tonight and then having thursday (maybe) and friday off. I have TA selection saturday so need to be recovered for that.

My goal now is 78 by the beginning of July.

Let it be so.

ah let us know how saturday goes then.

When I was at my cardio peak and weighed 77kg, I was on the bicycle for a good 60 minutes a day ontop of a morning jog. I can't imagine doing those amounts of cardio everyday anymore. I'd die. Physically, and of boredom on the bike. I'm buying a road bike soon to do long LSD sessions though.

Yeah thats what I'm going to have to work into.

Maybe a cycle every now and then, but more running, some actual swimming, interval work, thai boxing and ross style circuits.

Cardio

HIIT on the bike.
I don't know anything, even the time really because I didn't use the digital bike, I used the spin one.
I did about 3 tracks on the mp3 player on high resistance and standing, and I did some sprints in there as well during the rest.

I cycled continuously for metero by linken park, however long that is.

edit- I feel wasted today and that's the main thing.
