Media Ian Garry shuts down Joaquin Buckley

Haha he's right and I appreciate the honesty of not wanting to take a fighter ranked under him <Lmaoo>.

Also god damn is it funny to see Buckley act like he's some primo star all the time because of one viral knockout, man's really let it go to his head the way he calls everyone out.

Man I should go to bed lol o_O..

These modern fighters are divas, "waaah I only fight upwards". They could learn a thing or 2 from mommy fiorots world tour of destruction. Beat up a former title challenger in america, take out the number 1 contender in Abu Dhabi, then kick an unranked former champs ass for fun in Paris.

So what you're saying is we have a sort of Chad Fiorot and Beta Ian Garry situation here.

Interesting

Well Fiorot probably would've locked up her title shot if that Chookagian fight wasn't such a stinker. Actually I think UFC offered it to her and she turned it down citing injuries or possibly wanting one more fight, that's why Grasso ended up getting the shot. Shevchenko rematch clogged things up so now Fiorot had no choice but to take another fight.

Hopefully all of the fighters above Ian in the ranks refuse to fight him, because he's refusing to fight anyone below himself.

Gillespie destroyed his career refusing to fight anyone below himself.

Guys coming off a win should fight up, guys coming off a loss should fight down. Not rocket science. That's the best practice at least when the fighters' schedules allows it.

Garry is young, has star potential, represents a smaller country (will be the biggest *active* name in Irish MMA whenever McGregor retires) and the UFC wants to see him succeed. UFC never gave two craps about Gillespie given his age and stubbornness. Wouldn't really equate their two situations. Gillespie was way too damn picky for his own good.

Chookagian missed weight and mommy got injured in the 1st, and still won. I'd bet Garry the diva would've pulled out if his top contender opponent missed weight, but he'll probably never get to that point anyway.
You're right though mommy wanted another fight and had 2 knee surgeries in the last 9 months.

Yes, but it doesn't happen like that. Many fighters do not want to lose their rank so will not fight down even after a loss.

It's also not rocket science to see why they don't want to fight an opponent below them.

Great comparison when each wmma division has 3 or 4 good fighters tops.

Who?

Buckley didn’t seem all that buck there. He looked mildly entertained by the truth.
They were both walking the halls at UFC X (Fan Expo in Vegas during International Fight Week), both seemed in good spirits, this may have been in part jest as it was clearly filmed during this.
