To be fair, also, Dana White privilege relies on reliable matchmaking...

Which is definitely not as easy as it seems!

would be cool if you also showed his disclosed pay thru those fights in op

I love his activity and am as hyped as I can be for a new prospect, but we can't pretend that every guy on the roster is getting called up frequently to fight.

I don't care if I ever see Ian Madelena Garry in the octagon again. He's prelim filler.

Now that he’s getting hype and money, he’ll start fighting once a year and holding out for title shots like they always do.

It seems to me that if you want to be active you can (if you don't have visa issues or something) but a lot of guys cut a lot of weight and it's difficult to fight very often. There's no real reason why guys like Andre Fialho, Terrance McKinney, Loopy Godinez and Da'mon Blackshear should be so actove.

He's seen as a bit of a dose at home.

Acting like a geebag to get attention doesn't endear you to the public

I always appreciate an active fighter and I agree with giving some credit to Ian Garry on his activity by modern standards. Izzy is another fighter that comes to mind as keeping pretty active by modern standards.

Garry fought 3x in 2023 (so far), 2x in 2022, 3x in 2021, 2x in 2020, 3x in 2019 (beginning of career).
So he is pretty consistently 2-3 fights a year.

Recently I was looking at some Mike Tyson stats. First three years of Mike Tysons professional boxing career:

1985 (first active year) - 15 fights
1986 - 13 fights
1987 - 4 fights
1988 - 3 fights
and in general fluctuations between 0 - 3 fights per year for rest of career.

First two years of career, 28 fights. Garry first two years of career 5 fights.

I haven't done any real analysis of boxing avg fights in first two years, but that's just a contrast that really jumps out at me, the insane activity of a fighter like Mike Tyson in first few years of fighting, versus average activity of an MMA fighter in first few years of fighting at least in the modern era.

Why do I find Garry more insurferable than Colby Covington? Yuck.

It's not really comparable. When a boxer starts off pro, especially one's with a lot of hype. Then tend to demolish journeymen in short order (actual journeymen).
It's only when they get to regional level titles the fights get more competitive.
No boxer who's regularly fighting 12 round fights is fighting 15 times a year.
