I will start to respect Conor when......

Let us not start with this again. I already told you why and you know it well.

Mendes had no training camp.
Diaz has no training camp.
Aldo was the champ (only reason he did not avoid him). And his "fight" did not show much as it would if it was a war.

Does not matter that they didn't have a proper training camp. In both cases in which the scheduled opposition backed out, Conor has taken on serious challenges in the form of Mendes and Diaz instead of backing out of the contest, outright.

There are several audio clips of Conor talking about fighting Aldo before he even came to the UFC. There is no reason at all to believe that he is avoiding challenges, especially when you include reality into the equation: He was scheduled to fight a P4P great and when he backed out he took on the division's greatest wrestler; he was scheduled to take on the new king at 55 and when he backed out he accepted a fight with a perennial contender, two divisions removed from the one in which he holds the belt.

Not only did he take the fights against Aldo and RDA, he then proceeded to verbally assault them in the lead-up. Absolutely nothing suggests avoidance or the like on Conor's part.

Not sure if TS heard, but edgar is injured. It's a non issue and that fight isnt even humanly possible right now.

I will never hate on a guy for making the most of his limited oppotunrinites when they come up. Conor has the option to do something no one has done before and make more money than anyone else ever has in the process. Yes it can mess some things up in some weight divisions and hold up titles for a bit, but conor is being given an opptounity that only comes once in a life time and it would be stupid for him to pass that up simply so can please a few fans and be a 'true champion' whatever that means.

I don't think we will see him at fw again, dude looks like a crackhead tweaker at weigh ins .

He's on to bigger, better things,:eek::eek::eek::eek:. You'll never respect him.

Conor is simply a smarter business man than most fighters and fans. Or he has a very smart businessman in his corner advising him.

Yes it would be nice if belts didnt get held 'hostage'. But at the end of the day Conor has an oppturnity to make more money than anyone ever thought possible in this sport by moving around weight classes and taking the challenges he's taking. He's a very smart man actually and its a big reason why he is getting paid more than anyone in the history of the sport.

If that makes you hate a man or not respect them. So be it. Most would label that as hating and or jealousy.

He mans up and defends his featherweight title like a true champion. I will start to respect him when he does that whether he wins or loses. If he does win than I will gain even more respect for him if he defends it a 2nd time because I feel that he needs to be fighting Aldo a second time and he needs to give Edgar the shot he's earned. If he doesn't fight one of these guys at UFC 200 it's gonna be hard for me to respect him as a fighter or a champion.

"When he mans up"

Says the couch potato about the guy who hasn't pulled out of a fight once, and floored the then top-P4P fighter in the roster.

I don't think he needs your respect, really. Nobody does.

That´s kind off odd, I mean, I respect him enough for wanting to go against champs in higher weight classes. Why would you respect him more if he drains himself down to 145 and goes against guys that Aldo already beat "easily"? I mean, he knocked Aldo out in a couple of seconds. Aldo that hasn´t lost in 8+ years and beat everyone in the division.

Just think it was a weird thought you had there TS, but to each his own.

I will respect him when he stops acting like a new money retard.

If Conor does 1.0 -1.2M PPVs per card and fights 4 times a year, that almost HALF of the UFC’s business. I think he has to boss's respect and thats all that matters lol. At the end of the day haters will tune in to see him lose too so he deserves it.

Maybe it's Aldo the one that wasn't respected if a win over him means so little.

Good post,same here.
I just hate to call a fighter a goat with just a few fights.
He has a long way to go

I'm pretty sure if he does that you're going to make another thread saying "I'm only going to respect Conor McGregor if he beats the following people: Jesus, Jon Jones, Lawler, Rockhold, Donald Trump..."

he won his belt by climbing through the ranks of a tough division and knocking out the reigning, dominant champion with absolute ease

then he decided to move up and fight a more difficult champion (who unfortunately got hurt last minute)

if you're not impressed with that then that's your hang up and not his

But it does matter (Maybe not to you).
The only fact here is that he only took on ONE wrestler and that guy had no training camp.
All the rest are excuses you make to justify why it should count.

only on sherdog can a guy tko a perennial top contender, then obliterate a consensus top P4P great in 13 seconds, then agree to jump UP a weight class to challenge ANOTHER high caliber champion... and still need to "earn respect."

You sir, are ridiculous.

Everyone in the weight class is scared to fight him or injured. They all want to fight until they get the chance. Then they are injured.
