I will start to respect Conor when......

I would also gain some respect for him if he vacates the belt but he needs to vacate it before UFC 200 if he doesn't plan on defending it that night.
He doesnt need to do shit for at least 8 months which is avg time Aldo took to defend his belt.

He fucking literally called out Jose Aldo and the entire top of that Featherweight division from the moment he entered the UFC. And having done what nobody else managed (and many, many tried) and knocking Aldo out, he then went up to a higher weight class to take on somebody who is by far a more intimidating opponent than defending against Frankie Edgar or a Max Holloway whom he destroyed. Are you sure you don't respect him because of him not defending his belt, or do you think maybe you've just found a tiny wee reason to hold onto your blind hatred a little longer?
Savage.

Well if I was a fighter I would want to be respected by my team, my opponents, promoters, and the fans. I would aspire to gain the respect of all of the above.
Are you assuming that you speak for all fans and all fans have one view.

And thus to gain the respect of the 'fans' he needs to gain your respect?

I am guessing you think yourself a lot more important than Conor or anyone else would.

For instance I like movies but I don't particularly like certain top actors. Do you think they should care that I specifically don't like them when they have legions of fans who do?

Conor gets no respect from me until he beats Jones and Werdum simultaneously in the first round. Jones by takedown and brutal GNP and Werdum by triangle choke. He's not Strikeforce challenger caliber until he does that.

Conor bless the bitterness in yer bum souls

He mans up and defends his featherweight title like a true champion. I will start to respect him when he does that whether he wins or loses. If he does win than I will gain even more respect for him if he defends it a 2nd time because I feel that he needs to be fighting Aldo a second time and he needs to give Edgar the shot he's earned. If he doesn't fight one of these guys at UFC 200 it's gonna be hard for me to respect him as a fighter or a champion.

Yea hes jumping up weight and fighting scrubs like RDA.

Also Aldo backed out of a rematch with Mcgregor so its only fair you hold them to the same standards.

I'm worried that the lack of respect from sherdog user RNC&Poke may ruin Conor's concentration on the Diaz fight

Dont worry he will.

Well said, I'm a old school combat laws traditionalist I believe a title won is just that a title won in name only. Any oaf can fluke win a title before all the Connie's get their red panties in a bunch I do believe Conor won that FW title fair & square even if he was assisted by the champ himself leading head first head out in front of his body with no leg base underneath him to help absorb some of that shock.

In my eyez Conor holds the title, defend it successfully you are called "UNDISPUTED CHAMPION" or you can be a Forrest Griffin win a title and then turn around the very 1st defense and lose the title, or never actually defend the title and just vacate it how in good conscience can anyone call that person Champion I'll defer and call them a title holder because they just holding the title for someone else.

I wasn't speaking for all fans, I was clearly speaking for myself, if you would've read what I wrote you would've noticed. I started thread by saying Conor would gain my respect if.......
Not Conor would gain respect of anybody else if..........

You quoted my post where I said if I was a fighter I would want to be respected by my team, my opponents, promoters, and the fans. Clearly I was speaking for myself again in that instance by starting with if I was a fighter.

I will respect Conor more once he's been is a true war.
I will gain even more respect when he stop trying to wiggle himself out of harder fights, and picks the hardest fight available, to stop the non-believers.

But I would say that this is a money (business) decision first, what is "fair" becomes less important...

You don't respect the guy who TKO Mendes then KTFO Aldo, then challenges the champion in the next higher divison? Only on Sherdog.

So your saying he defended it successfully when he fought the champion? They shouldn't even have interim title fights but than again what do I know?

Maybe you should read a bit slower friend I have no idea how you dug that out of what I posted? Simply put you not a true champion (in my eyez) until you've successfully defended a recently won belt you a belt holder and champion in name only.

As if Mendes was not considered his kryptonite by his detractors prior to their fight.....
As if Aldo was not the greatest FW of all time......
As if RDA was not the hardest possible fight for him to take......

What are you even talking about?

people keep trying to set the bar higher and higher as to what conor has to do to earn respect. never mind that he came back stronger than ever after his surgery, called out a list of FWs, said he would knock them out and did so, called out the only FW champ and one of the p4p greats and knocked him out in 13 seconds while generating more interest in mma than many other fighters aside from ronda and yet he still has to do more. jeez i never thought i'd be in mcgs corner like this but damn people he deserves respect as a fighter.

Let us not start with this again. I already told you why and you know it well.

Mendes had no training camp.
Diaz has no training camp.
Aldo was the champ (only reason he did not avoid him). And his "fight" did not show much as it would if it was a war.

"I will start to respect Conor when..."

Don't care, you're obviously a dipshit and another spectacle fan boi bitching on MMA forums. Go away, get bored of fighting already.

only way he goes back to FW is if he gets shot down at LW. he's already said he's having trouble with the cut, he wants to stay at LW if possible.

Beating Diaz is going to be a great feather in his cap though
