Elections I went to see Bernie Sanders speak last night.

Let me start of by saying that I have never been a fan of Bernie’s and I have never been to a political rally or event. Actually, that’s not true, I had to work with capital police many years ago when mitt romney was running for potus and John Bohner came to speak at my city. I was the highest ranking sergeant on duty, so it fell in my lap. And long story short, I gorged myself on the free food they gave us for the $1000 plate event. I ate multiple filet mignons and lobster risotto to the point where I was uncomfortable. Later on, I was alone in the hallway and I farted and it smelled so bad and then John Bohner appeared and was coming to the back hallway to smoke a cigarette. He wanted to talk to me and we spoke for a moment, me knowing the whole time he was in a fart cloud. At one point, I think he noticed and then abruptly ended the conversation. So I farted on the number three man in the country lol.

My wife really wanted to go see Bernie speak, as she is a liberal while I am not. None of her friends could go and she was disappointed, so I told her I would go. She was in complete disbelief that I would go to something she knows I wouldn’t want to just for her.

My thoughts on the matter were that Bernie hates billionaires and so do I. They shouldn’t exist.

As for the actual rally, the first speaker talked about the flooding in this area and how 12 people died in the flooding and it took trump 38 days to ok fema funds and 55 days total before any actual aid came through-at a trickle. The flooding was in June, yet other areas go flooded after us and they got their funding and fema aid much quicker. This state voted for trump overwhelmingly and always has. So it was a shock that he turned his back on us when we needed help.

As for Bernie, he went off on the 1% hoarding 90% of the wealth and I agree with him on this aspect. They hold more wealth than the bottom 52% of the entire population. He really hates musk, who he said has 400 billion dollars and talked about how the big beautiful bill gave tax breaks to billionaires and large corporations, again, I agree with him there.
In short, we both hate oligarchs, which was the whole premise of his show.

He talked about how expensive healthcare is and how it is unaffordable for most people. I agree with him there. He said that healthcare is a human right, same as education. I have to agree with him there.

He talked about our failing education and how teachers should be making much more money: again, agree.

Then he talked about the BBB and how it will remove 15 million people off of their healthcare, including veterans and I can’t see any good in this bill, I agree this is fucked up.

My only issue is that even though what he says sounds good, I don’t believe he could ever get it done-no one could.

So why do people think Bernie is so radical? I know prior to this, I had only heard he is an extreme socialist, but it didn’t see anything extremely radical in what he was saying.

So, what are your thoughts on Sanders? Do you think he will run again? He was an energetic speaker, so I believe it’s a strong likelihood he runs because he didn’t seem all that elderly or like he could run out of steam. I also believe Elizabeth Warren is gearing up to run and gavin gruesome will definitely run. We will probably see Corey booker throw his hat into the ring. Of all those candidates, if forced to vote for one, I would choose Bernie.

I have pics of him, but I don’t see the usual “attach files” so I can upload my pics from my phone and I sure as hell am not loading my pics onto the internet just to post the link because it is a pain in the ass.
Nice review, and if you go over the issues he supports with my honest people, they completely agree with his policies. Yet right-wingers and corporate media try to portray him as the old Mr. Magoo communist, who is going to take all your money. If he were 10 years younger, he would definitely be frontrunner in the next election, and should have been the candidate in 2016

Probably because he didn’t hold the democrats to anything with his votes and rails about the rich from his multiple homes. He’s a fraud.

All this time, and you're still blaming Republicans for his shortcomings? He may indeed be called those things, but he was popular enough where he could've held the Dems hostage and forced them to make a decision of getting behind him or losing his large base of support. He chose servitude instead. And for what? It didn't stop Trump.

The only thing that held Bernie back was his lack of a spine.

I think Bernie is an above average speaker. That is one of his traits that brigs him a following I believe. His ever changing ideas sound lousy all to often to me though.

Being a good speaker, and having a good crafty social media presence seems to do well with white females for the socialist candidates though.

Bernie Sanders Has Never Had a Real Job, yet Says Dems Must 'Stand With Working People'

If you're looking for a guy who wants to lecture you on how to relate to working Americans, wouldn't you choose someone who has, at some point in their lives, you know, worked?

That seems a logical condition, which makes it all the more baffling that anyone listens to the daffy old Bolshevik from Vermont, Bernie Sanders (net worth, $15 million) when it comes this issue. But listen, they do, to a daffy old guy who, after failing as a carpenter, entered politics, stayed in politics, and grew rich off of politics. CNN's Dana Bash listens to him:....

Like I said, if he could do half of what he claims he would do, I would vote for him. Hell, I can’t imagine me voting for any other candidates at this point. Who’s going to run from the right besides jd vance and marco rubio, maybe Texas governor Greg Abbott?

I saw that he was worth 15 million but couldn’t find a source on that and most sources agreed he is worth 3 million most of it in his two homes and from book sales

I know you probably strongly dislike Elizabeth Warren, but just listen to how disgusted this Elitist snob is by her advocating for the working class:

His entire argument amounts to "aren't you afraid of upsetting the billionaires??"

While I like that Warren said that he was crying about the “poor billionaires” she is quite wealthy herself. Almost all of congress are wealthy. How do they all seem to get so wealthy? It is extremely large coincidence that every one of them are worth millions and live very large. I am pretty sure Warren will run in 28 because she has been gearing up her social media profile. Hell, I even see all her tweets and I am not sure why I would be getting her tweets.

Madman I will probably win and like all politicians, he will do political favors for his friends and not deliver on his promises. And he has flip flopped on his radical anti police stance from a few years ago.

“We don’t need an investigation to know that the NYPD is racist, anti‑queer & a major threat to public safety," he posted on June 28, 2020. "What we need is to #DefundTheNYPD. But your compromise uses budget tricks to keep as many cops as possible on the beat. NO to fake cuts – defund the police."

"We need a socialist city council to defund the police," he wrote on July 3, 2020.
City Council tried to make the NYPD reduce its overtime budget by half," Mamdani posted on X in December 2020. "They simply refused. There is no negotiating with an institution this wicked & corrupt. Defund it. Dismantle it. End the cycle of violence."

During his run for mayor, he changed his position from five years ago, including during a debate during the fiercely competitive Democratic primary.

Now he says:
"I will not defund the police. I will work with the police because I believe the police have a critical role to play in public service, public safety,"

Warren's finances arent all that difficult to track:

You think political positions don't alter over 5 years? I think NYPD has proven to be one of the most troublesome departments in the US and there us plenty evidence to back that up. So if he did defund them (as in re-allocate money to more broad social services, removing police from having to deal with EVERYTHING), I certainly wouldn't cry about it.

I was just showing you how corporate media responds to the very idea of addreasing the affordability crisis by addressing the wealth gap. They have literally ZERO answer, because that dude told her Mamadani should focus more on increasing revenue, I mean, how does he think Cities make money? What he doesnt want to say is that he thinks the working class should pay more taxes, and the wealthy should be exempt from them for fear of alienating them, which is absurd. This whole Country has this fear of the wealthy, and rightfully so as theyve decimated entire cities and towns in pursuit of cheaper labor or more favorable markets that require less adaptation and innovation. So we cater to them. We act like capitalism is a game for people to win. We allow them to hoard all of the money, and tell us that generating more money isnt the answer. We allow them to push for regressive taxation and we entertain their utter panic at having to pay a percent of money they could never use in 5 lifetimes. And when politicians speak out against it, we immediately sh*t on them. Unless that politician IS a billionaire. Then we honestly believe the guy is a man of the people and hand him the keys.

More politicians needs to be farted on, whatever it takes to keep them honest.

I think I heard some audio from the same rally and two important things that set Bernie apart from the rest:
1. When asked if he'd run in 2028 he basically said "bitch, do you know how old I am???" I'm paraphrasing but that was his point.
2. He said that younger democrats, liberals and progressive need to take the party from the old guard. He said, again paraphrasing, that if they won't hand off the baton then it'll need to be taken.

Yeah, the base salary for a US Senator is $174k and some leadership positions are close to $200k.

So in about 4-5 years, they'll earn $1 million. Factor in that they do speaking tours, write books, teach classes, or practice law (the ones that are lawyers), and you have people who are in the top 5% or earners.

Also add in that they have accomplished spouses who also earn a lot, are obviously quite intelligent and careful with their money, and it shouldn't be a surprise that they're worth a few million by the time they're in their 60s.

Red flags should start coming up for populist/socialist types with a net worth over, say, $10 million.

Guy is a kook. One of the biggest hypocrite grifters there is. Public servant preaching socialism worth 20 million bucks flying on private jets eating like a King.

Honestly, even as disappointing as Bernie has been in some respects (his wishy-washiness on Israel/Palestine being one of the more glaring examples) and my general skepticism of electoral politics, his presidential campaigns marked some pretty pivitol shifts in my politics. His first campaign was a huge part of what pushed me from being a pretty bog-standard liberal (albeit, one with a bit of a libertarian streak) to being a social Democrat. The Democratic establishment railroading him again in 2020 was, likewise, a huge part of what made me an anarchist.

Basically, my political development went something like this, lol:

That’s not what he was saying in 2020. Like many, he wanted to defund the police as punishment for floyd. He flat out called him racist and anti queer. Some places and people wanted to abolish their police. But now, he says he doesn’t want to defund the police and would work with them. What changed? Oh yeah, he’s running for mayor now. I don’t believe him and think he is a fucking snake.

As for taxing billionaires, I am all about that. I think they should be taxed into oblivion. Tax them until they have hundreds of millions rather billions. But that’s me.

He didn’t touch on those at the rally I was at

Bernie got cucked harder than Will Smith in 2016. Dems really fumbled by not running him.
