I think they should punish fighters that use eye pokes by taking 1/4 of their purses and here is why

So you punished your kid regardless of intention too, right? ;)

Jokes aside, I'd be OK with a one-poke one-point (deducted) regime. Problematic fighters would change their gameplan QUICK. And, of course, you could still keep referee discretion (because I do believe that intent matters to an extent).
Actually he felt so badly and cried and hugged me but my wife told him I’m ok and he had to serve a little time out. He returned after a few minutes and kissed my eye and we hugged. But I can only wonder when a fully grown man shoves his big finger in your eye and what kind of damage it would cause.

Have u ever had an eye injury caused by someone’s finger that requires emergency surgery? When you do, then you’ll realize that is the right punishment!
ACCIDENTS happen to good people too. Do you think your 5 year old daughter intended to injure you? I mean.. I won’t even take that route.

Yes, the UFC should adopt a different glove. But to try to hold them liable for accidents or outright dirty tactics of some scumbags is too much. Cheaters will always find ways to cheat.

You’re making way too much out of this due to your own circumstances.

Take a fucking point for every eye poke that the ref sees, or can be proven with the replay rules.

I’m convinced we will only be left with true accidental poking. No matter what gloves they wear.

What about this kind of poke?

Auto 25% deduct of purse to opponent, 1 point deduction. Second infraction is DQ and 100% forfeit of purse to opponent.
Ideal.

Imagine the NFL run like this

1st fall start = 25% taken from every single member on the team
2nd fall start = Automatic loss and your entire teams weekly player budget goes to the opponent instead

Why? It would stop eye poking. Or change the gloves.

same thing with drunk driving. Everyone wants DD to stop , repeat offenders etc. killing innocent people. Imagine if you get pulled over, you have to take an immediate test and if you fail, they shoot you on spot. Sounds absurd obviously , but id bet anything drunk driving would actually take a nose dive.

I am def good for a 1 point deduction. I think 2 eye pokes should be a DQ and you lose 50-75% of your purse.

Implement a law where convicted drunk drivers are bound and publicly beat by members of MADD.

For the op I doubt any ac would adopt this but a one point deduction per eye poke/groin strike could work.

No, that’s ridiculous. It’s not a serious enough problem for me as a fan to want monetary punishment for the fighters. The hell is wrong with ya?

Team sports arent individual sports. Fighters are told every fight to watch the fingers and fucking dont. Its retarded.

You aren’t making any cogent argument here.

When one of my sons was 12 he loved nothing more than the WWF and him and I wrestling around. One day he had a buddy over so it was a handicap match.. 2 on 1.

Suddenly his buddy on his belly on the bottom throws up one of his legs and his heel smashes into my nose. Literally removed skin (abrasion), and made my nose bleed.

Did I lose my shit? It wasn’t intentional and I don’t want to know what kind of mental state you’d be in to believe it was on purpose. No, I played it like a WWF star of the era. I said blood means nothing in a fight. And ended up getting the dbl pin (one on top of the other). It was about spending quality time with my kid and his pal.

Accidents.

It’s almost impossible to prove intent unless a guy is a serial poker. Just take a point for every poke. They won’t completely disappear but the frequency is going to drop, I guarantee that.

I would go as far as to say that Jones and Cormier are criminals that are "serial pokers" (as you say).

Jones constantly does obvious and blatant eye pokes.

I’m talking about eye injury specifically because if you get a retina or cornea detachment that means eye surgery or you could lose your eye sight! That’s some serious stuff dude, going blind!

What does it matter what sport I use? I can make the same ridiculous argument using any of them.

I don't think anyone goes out of their way to eye gouge an opponent (Gerard Gordeau and Gilbert Yvel aside).

Most people will gauge distance using a open palm. Happens in wrestling and kickboxing too

It matters. Think about it more.

People can easily not extend fingers also, especially the repeat offenders like jones etc. Its not hard to not eye poke someone or not grab the fence.

That's not really a great example - false starts don't injure people or affect their eyesight.

A much better one would be for a hit to a defenseless receiver, a personal foul or blow to the head.

Personal fouls are ALWAYS from people losing their temper or trying to "one up" a guy who schooled them earlier in the game. That's about as close a match as you will get to an intentional eye poke.

Hit to a defenseless receiver can sometimes be avoided, and other times there is too much speed and momentum and the hit happens regardless. That's as close as you are going to get to an unintentional eye poke.

Also, they only lose 10% of their purse for not making the weight thereby risking that the fighters don't even make it into the cage.

Let's not forget the nasty sweat and dead skin in their fingernails. . . possibly puncturing your eyeball.

The worst I've seen lately was Edwards V Belal. You could tell **immediately** by Belal's body language that he was not only in agony/blind, but that he also knew that the fight was over.

Some Sherbros think it’s extreme what I suggested but it’s ok to lose ur eye sight, WTF is wrong with these fucken idiots???
In all honesty if someone does this to me in a fight, I will make sure he gets 3 times worse
