I need help ( self defense )

Hangout with @Trabaho. I heard he can bench teh 275 lbs.

Try to see if you can purchase bear spray. You can take out a group of people with it. I saw one fat bouncer break up a group of fighting guidos with just the spray.
I guess I shouldn't underestimate the Filipino grannies working as security guards then since they might open a can of whoop ass bear spray.

Bright metal torch imo.

Pretty innocuous thing to have on you but Pretty effective even with shitty aim.

And the best personal defense is simply being in shape and being able to outrun most pursuers which then allows you to choose if/when to engage.

If you want something to train, do not choose BJJ. Going to the ground, even if you are winning would see you dead, in most instances. You want something like krav maga or even Karate or boxing (more hit and run based).

Disagree on the bjj aspect, if you are standing you could be running.

I am not sure you read my post correctly or if you did, what you disagree with?

I think BJJ is arguably the best art in a controlled setting, where you know things will remain one on one, or if you can somehow ensure your fight with another person will remain one on one.

But if there is the slightest risk of others getting involved, and your primary fight skill involves securing control and going to ground and working patiently towards a choke or other finish, then BJJ becomes the biggest threat to both of them on the ground.

Other guys from both sides, even if brawling, will do what they can to stomp the BJJ guy out (both guys out), even as they fight others.

That is why i would prefer skills in boxing or kick boxing (Karate) which are more of 'distance' arts, allowing you to disengage and also run (walk away) if you want, even if the bjj guys would beat you one on one, if given the chance in a secure setting.

Without knowing too much about the situation, if you genuinely fear for your safety and don't want to be involved then why not just stay away from the protests? That's typically the best self-defense.
99,9% this is a politically motivated bot account creating information noise.
Yeah, I live in Serbia, I fear for my life because of Evil Government, so what do I do? Of course create an account on an obscure USA based karate forum... And post about it in the Gayberry no less.

There are at this point nationwide protests in my homecountry of Serbia, and its getting violent. 2 female students ( seperate occurrences ) have been ran over by pro government lunatics.
There is also indication that the government will start sending in groups of holligans with police to attack students with blunt weapons, and possibly firearms ( not confirmed ).

My whole life I have lived here thinking this is a safe country. For the first time ever I fear for my life.

What kind of self defense does sherdog recommend?
Firearms are practically illegal ( require all kinds of checks and they certainly won't hand out permits at this moment ), EXCEPT BLACK POWDER FIREARMS ( you only need to register you bought one and thats it, no permits required ).
Knifes are really dangerous, but it is the only form of self defense i currently posses ( short blade ).
Pepper spray I fear might not be enough.
High Lumen flashlights are also on the table.

Obviously there is an option of acquiring a illegal firearm ( I have no doubt I could get my hands on one, darkweb ), but the sentence for that is worse then the sentance for murder ( Yes you should fight for your gun rights, I'm talking to you Americans ).

What do I do?
What do you do? Fuck right off back to the cozy troll farm you came from.
You are asking for advice on which tools are the best to physically harm officials of a democratically elected government.

Your situation doesn't seem like a "self-defense" matter. Self defense tools (even a firearm) won't be great help against getting run over by one or more vehicles. Sounds more like a "get out of Dodge" circumstance. Either leave the country for a while or go off for vacation somewhere that's relatively quiet/safe.

Personally I think video cameras are a good option.

My point is simply that if someone is NOT holding on to you, you can run.
If someone IS holding onto you, grappling is what you need.

Yes.

But Bjj is specifically orientated to take the fight to the ground. You could opt not to, but your default instinct will be to do that, even if it means pulling guard. A real risk in todays society the way fighting has changed.

I haven't read all the replies, I stopped when you spoke about pinning someone. Going to the ground in a crowd is extremely dangerous. You will have boots put to you. There is no way other bystanders or peace keepers know if you are the good guy.

If you are truly afraid avoid large crowds, establish and keep a routine. Pepper spray can incapacitate you and inflame others intentionally or not.

If you are working with an idea a bjj player would pull guard obviously it's not going be any use in self defence. I think touching gloves is equally likely in a street fight.

BJJ players are vastly better at TDs than non grapllers are at TDD.

Being good at BJJ means you choose, if its up or it's down, if you want to engage or want to run.

ya, i still prefer a non grappling art for that type of engagement. One where you have trained to use distance strikes.

A top wrestlers top tool would be his td and control. Sure you can argue he can use his skill to stay standing and run but i would prefer to be a top kick boxer or boxer in that situation where i can strike at distance, go for the ko or just run if i chose to.

Again in the situation i am talking about you maybe have 3 guys trying to fight you. You believe you could easily take any one of them but recognize three guys poses a problem. You run and if they pursue and you are in good shape you hope to stretch the distance between them out. You can then stop and engage the lead one hoping to KO him quickly. If not you could run again. But you do not want to take him down with the other guys still coming.

Sounds like, you're covering it. Knife, pepper spray, maybe a flexible steel baton?

Although a pain to fuck with, black powder weapons sent people to the dirt-realm for ages.

Plus you have the added benefit of a smoke screen to escape in.

Like being Batman.

Good luck.
