I met Tracy Cortez the other day

Lew Polley (Bellator Fighter) was my brothers college wrestling teammate. They would come visit my house on school breaks together. Typical early 2000's college dudes hella funny, always drinking at the house and playing some kind of prank. My brother made me jump on Lew stomach when he passed out from drinking. It felt like jumping bare feet on concrete. He chased me around the backyard until he caught me and put me in a lex luger torture rack until I screamed uncle. (I was barely a teen lol)

Calvin Kattar. i was at Foxwoods for my brother’s bachelor party & Kattar was doing a promotional thing w/ Rob Font at a new sports cards store that was directly across from where we had dinner. i decided not to go over there because i didn’t want to get suckered into some promo that involved making a purchase.

cut to many hours & many drinks later; early AM. me & my group decide it’s time to head back to our hotel rooms. we’re walking across a mostly barren hallway to get to the parking garage that connects the casino to our hotel when Kattar & some of his crew (no Rob Font) come through the doors at the other end. when we cross paths i greeted him, shook his hand, thanked him for all the great fights & told him to enjoy the rest of his night before continuing on. it was a brief exchange of pleasantries, but i could tell he was appreciative. then apparently he seemed surprised that i didn’t stop to ask for a photo or w/e, but that’s according to my cousin, who could’ve been full of shit

I once knocked out BJ Penn outside of a bar. He was really drunk, not in his prime, and certainly not at his best. But still. I did. There's a video of it floating around somewhere...

Alptekin Ozkilic opened a restaurant down the street from me. I've spoken with him several times, really nice guy there.
Very cool..
You ever cruise up to the Torrance area? I’ve seen Anderson at the Citibank on Hawthorne/Sepulveda and Machida quite a few times around businesses on Hawthorne. Saw Anderson and Big Nog years ago in Hermosa Beach at ET Surf off PCH.

I've waited a couple days to post this. Not sure if she lives in my area or has friends or family and was visiting. Don't want to blow up her spot. I didn't take pics (I don't ask celebs or athletes to take pics and I live in SoCal and celebrity sightings are not the rarest thing in the world) and I didn't ask her any personal questions.

I was walking down to my local Vons for a rotisserie chicken. This was after not working out for a week and lifting a little and banging out one hundred pushups. While on my walk, I noticed two women walking in the opposite direction on Broadway (won't name the city, but in the case Tracy sees this post, she may remember) and at first I wasn't paying any mind and then when we crossed paths, I got a good look at her and I stopped and said "Tracy"

Her and the young lady she was with turned around and I asked if she was Tracy Cortez. She said she was and I just wished her many blessings. I did not bother her with any personal questions or rumors that are running around.

After this I text a couple irl friends who follow MMA and they thought it was pretty cool. One asked how she looked in person and I said like how she looks on Instagram. I was told I was silly for not snapping a picture, but it's not my thing (but I did take pics with Rampage and Royce when they had an autograph signing, but that was expected)

Any a who, thought it would be cool to share. She had on a white tank top and jeans or jean shorts, I can't remember and the young lady she was with resembled someone I went to high school with. She was very nice and thanked me for my well wishes.

Anyone else have random encounters with a fighter and not document it?
I have a few.

Walked passed a dentist office that had Inoki sitting in it. After passing it by a few feet, I walked in reverse to look in the dentist office again to make sure it was him. I nodded, he nodded, and then I kept going my way.

Walked passed Nog and his wife? GF? Something like that.

Probably a few other random people I walked past, but never spoke too. I enjoy their fights, but don't want to bother nor be bothered.

Once in a while. I've had several friends see Anderson several times, I've never ran into him though. I also lived in Gardena a while ago, never ran into either of the Nog brothers. I watched Nunes vs. Rousey at the UFC Gym in Torrance and Lyoto was there. When I got up to take a piss, one of his kids almost ran into me, I moved out the way, looked at Lyoto and he shot me a smile after he told his kid not to run into people. I didn't speak with him or anything though and I did not take a picture either.

I once took a tour of Team Quest and saw Krzysztof Soszynski hitting pads. That was pretty cool, was huge in person.

It's wild that people think it's crazy for people to run into people. Anyone who lives in the SoCal Los Angeles area, New York, Atlanta where people see celebrities all the time not that big of a deal. Honestly, my run-ins with Muhammad Ali, Magic Johnson, and Spike Lee are all move unbelievable than running into Tracey. I mean those are all transcendent figures and I didn't get to speak with any of them for different reasons. Wouldn't expect any of you to believe that or the time Nipsey Hussle saved my life when we were teenagers or James Harden used to live down the street from me in High School or how I was friends with Ab-Soul in high school. None of this sounds believable from a stranger on the internet, but people live their lives too.

Weird flex.

Only fighter I’ve ran into was Cheick Kongo, way back
In a tattoo shop, of all places
I didn’t get a pic
He was huge though (average sherdogger size)

Haha I was there that night on the treadmill.. closest to the exit/smoothie bar. I remember that night very clearly. Yup, I’ve seen Lyoto a few times at the gym. Krzysztof actually taught at the gym for a bit with his then wife. Super nice guy… very open about his memory loss after getting ko’d. Did some training with Krzysztof at Mark Munoz’s gym down by Irvine before seeing him at UFC Gym.. He was always very personable and professional. Guess two Sherdoggers were there that night… wonder how anyone else fit in there with our gigantic frames 🤷‍♂️
