After watching Reyes and Santos, what makes you think Jones beats Stipe? He is stronger than both and has more refined boxing. Not to mention, Stipe has spent his career getting hit by 230+ lb. men.

Jones is still elite but its clear he is declining. Whether its because he is off roids or simply due to mileage is up for debate.

After watching Stipe vs DC twice what makes you think Jones would struggle vs Stipe? knocked out the first go around and had to pull a come back from behind victory while Jones defeated DC comfortably.

The thing with HW is that Jones won't be able to wrestle them that easily, and the one punch ko menace will be a lot bigger. He'll surely kick and jab them from long range, using his speed advantage and waiting for them to get tired, but won't clinch a lot imo.

he will be faster and have better cardio
maybe he will be the more accurate striker

cons:
his wrestling is already terrible at 205 and it will be even worse at HW
no power in his strikes and has had a very low striking output in his last three fights
he relies on his chin, which will crack after a matter of time

basically jones would have to win 25 minute kickboxing matches against guys who hit harder than anyone he's ever faced. jones does not have great defense, so either he gets KO'ed or he wins a lot of 25 minute decisions.

I see reyes being a tougher overall opponent than a 35 year old stipe who just got outboxed by dc for 3 rounds would be

Reyes youth, speed, explosiveness and multidimensionality are what allowed him success

Stipe is a relatively predictable opponent with a singular attack. You are simply not beating Jones with just hands. Especially if you dont have things like youth, speed and reflexes on your side.

Are taking drugs? If not then you should consider taking them. Man Jones had his arse handed to him by Reyes, had it not been for a bent ref, he would no longer be champion, and in the eyes of the majority he is no longer champ.

HW is most definitely the easier division for an aging jones at this point and i dont think theres any way to objectively dispute it.

Its unlikely youre beating someone like Jones with just a boxing based attack as well. You need to attack him in multiple dimensions which both Santos and Reyes did.

I actually don't. Because Stipe is slow and mostly boxes with some wrestling. He is not a big mover. He stands in front of you.. He got nailed with DC power punches over and over both fights.. Jones prays on that type of fighter with his great versatility. Reyes is an athlete, that has variety and used athletic movement.. Stipe will stand in front of Jones trying to KO him. He won't move..
