Thick quads and small calves. What do you guys think about that? Calves are overrated?

I do as well I reckon; my calves arent big but ok enough.

The hamstring is the bicep of the leg

The quad is the tricep

In terms of functionality those are the closest analogues
I’m taking aesthetics....Not functionality. When you wear a shirt big biceps get the attention. When you wear shorts it’s the calves.
 
I think it's one of those things that men who exercise will notice more than anyone else. Women and other people who aren't into lifting won't notice. And as far as for athletic ability it doesn't really help much. If you only care about athletic function, just run and skip rope, if you have genetics for big calves they will get big just from that, if you don't then they won't but so what?

Moreso, if you don't have genetics for big calves, no training will make them big, period. Even Mr. Olympia level pro bodybuilders struggle with that.
Same with forearms, the growth on them is very limited.
