The hamstring is the bicep of the leg
The quad is the tricep
In terms of functionality those are the closest analogues
Well, I mean, technically, the largest muscle in the arm is the Tricep, so....
Quads similar tricep-push
Hams similar bicep-pull
Calves similar to forearm
Most lifters/athletes work legs regularly are quad dominant or more developed in quads than hamstrings.
Better to be more balanced or more proportionate, (not just aesthetically) but makes you stronger & prevents injuries in any muscle group/pair.
So many injuries in training & sports are direct result/consequence of muscle imbalances.
