I dont understand low carb diets for weight loss...

I understand if its for medical reason or for weight cutting. But I do not understand why would anyone go on a low carb diet for weight loss since at the end of the day, its about burning more calories you take in. Some say low carb is better than low calorie which makes no sense because even in low carb, you still have to reduce calories for weight loss purposes.

Does something happen besides water loss?
It s also that meat is less caloric per unit so you absorb less calories by avoiding grains.

Walk into your convenience store or grocery store. You will see carbs everywhere. It’s easy to be in a caloric deficit when you cut out carbs.

I understand but there is a difference between processed carbs and natural carbs like fruits, vegetables, dates, honey. I feel like processed carbs are giving healthy carbs a bad rep.

I find a piece of fruit really helps with feeling fuller. Like you can binge gummy worms but its impossible to eat 4 apples since you end up feeling full because its filled with nutrition and the water content keeps you full. The enzymes make it easy to digest.

A lot of fat people have diets that are literally 80% carbs. Low carb forces them to eat in a sane way and combined with calorie counting they see big results. However if you already know what you're doing there's not really any point to going for low carbs, just make sure the macros make sense for what you're aiming for.

Now a days, there are low carb junk food that is high in calories. A fatty meal can be very calorie filled.

Carbs are also anabolic

True if they are fruits, dates, honey and vegetables that are of natural source. I suppose there are no real fat or protein out there that are catabolic unless maybe tofu or vegetable oil. So its easy to choose anabolic options on low carb.

The best diet to follow if the one you can follow. For me low carb is the easiest way to keep track of the bullshit. Bread pasta etc is all stuff you don’t even realize how much you’re taking in. When I wanted to lose weight I started at 252, power lifter though, and got down to 220 and then did a second run to get down to 210. I’ve settled at 215 around two years later. I kept it to roughly 2000 calories a day, 160 grams of protein, and 50 carbs a day except for on cardio days (which was 100). Today I still don’t have carbs in every meal. There’s just no reason to do that.

so low carb high protein was the easiest for me to follow and still hit my protein for the day consistently.

I hear you with pasta and breads that can be very addicting. That being said, fruit is very filling and help feel fuller longer.

Yeah I’ve been getting way back into fruit lately when losing weight. A mate was telling me about the sugars in fruit etc, well yeah but I’m sure an apple is a better snack than an apple and cinnamon muffin for example

True and a food is a packaged deal. Its not simple as apple=sugar. Apple has enzymes, vitamins and other health inducing properties. Its not simple as calories in, calories out.

When I do the raw food fasting, I get really clear skin, digestion feels like magic, I can jump around like a little kid and look like a teenager ( with shaving and hair styling) with raw food weight loss.

Of course I usually crave fatty foods and this led me to carb/fat cycling. But aside from that, calories must remain under for weight loss.

Yeah, being in a caloric deficit is what will get you to lose weight. But if on top of that you go low carb, you'll specifically lose more fat, which is what just about everyone wants.

The extremely elusive gaining muscle while losing fat combo can actually be achieved if you are in a caloric deficit while eating very high protein. Like 50-60% of your calories.
Carb loading and timing helps too. On days I go to the gym, I lift for 1.5 hours. In order to sustain the long workouts with minimal energy loss... I carb load before going. So I sit at my desk and eat all day before leaving for the gym. I may eat 300 grams of carbs by 4 o'clock. Afterwards I just eat straight protein and minimal carbs.

But days I don't lift I may only eat 150-175 grams of carbs.

The thing that always remains constant is 1g protein per 1 lb of body weight every day.

Low-carbohydrate diets for weight loss are based on the idea that reducing carbohydrate intake, especially refined carbohydrates such as sugar and white flour, can lead to weight loss by lowering insulin levels and increasing the body's ability to burn fat as fuel. In addition, low-carbohydrate diets have been shown to reduce appetite and lead to a reduction in overall calorie intake. This can also contribute to weight loss. But personally, I do not use such diets, because at the moment I am on a weight gain and on the contrary I need to make my muscles grow. I was looking for where to buy tren not long ago to make my muscles grow even faster since there is very little time left before I have to compete. However, it is important to note that low-carb diets may not suit everyone, especially those suffering from certain medical conditions such as diabetes. It is always best to consult a medical professional before starting any new diet or exercise program.

Low calorie diet doesnt mean less food. If you learn how to count macros (believe or not many people dont) you can easily find out what and how much food you can eat. Im the person that needs to have bigger meals so stuff belly for once and good (smaller portions throughout day is BS) and I am currently eating daily 30% calories below my maintenance. Losing weight week to week consistently. Forget those meal plans; 15g cereal with 20ml fat free milk BS or 120g chicken breast and salad...you pick your own food. Learn to read food labels and make your own menu. So easy.

I fought the low carb thing, but in the end, it really is the easiest way to lose weight. I just lost 10 in 2 weeks. I am not going Keto or no carb. Just lower carb and I removed sugar and processed carbs. I removed pasta, rice, and low fiber white bread. I get my carbs from fruit and some from high fiber low carb protein enriched products. I upped my protein as well. I am absolutely shredded at 50. I eat regular foods like Peanut butter, meats, cheeses,

A few tips: If you do have carbs, make sure it is with a protein. That makes you digest it longer.
Get your carbs from good sources like fruit and Sweet Potatoes.
Cut out anything with high sugar, corn syrup, fructose, candy, soda, baked goods.

Great products:

Too much carbs make me feel bloated and sluggish. A big plate of meat and veggies with a small side carb is where its at

Agree with TS. It's not about the carbs but the total calories. Reckon that most junk food is super loaded with carbs.

LOL at people that can't eat a fucking boiled potato because their diet say so.

1,000%

I carb/calorie load as well. On lifting days I go heavy carbs and overall heavy calories. On rest days, I go below maintenance in calories, aim for under 100g carbs, and as high protein as I can get.

It really is the best of both worlds. You maintain a lean, muscular frame, while not depriving yourself, which will cause you to hate your life. I never turn down a social outing either. If it falls on a rest day, I just eat very little (high protein though) throughout the day and then eat normal when I'm out.

Weight management is about total calories and low carb diets work for weight loss because you eliminate or restrict calories from carbs.

That’s really all it comes down to.

High carb diets and low carb diets/keto have a different impact in regards to what your body does with the calories you take in. It effects hormones such as insulin which helps your body regulate how calories are used/stored.

Also your body composition will be different depending on your fat/protein/carb ratios.

Satiation also changes depending on the foods you eat.

Finally, as you mentioned, less water retention.

In short low carb diets could potentially help with weight loss and body composition because of hormonal impact, calorie restriction benefits, macro nutritient %, and less water retention.
Low carb will probably tank your thyroid levels especially if your already hypothyroid which a lot of people are already at borderline levels and they dont know it. If your hypothyroid your going to struggle with losing weight, your tdee is going to drop when you try to restrict the diet. Keto like anyother diet will work really well for some people depending on their circumstances, health history, genetics, etc.

Are you still trying to eat 800-1200 calories a day?
